The longest I can sit and play is completely a function of me thinking I should be doing something productive. I haven't played games too much recently but when I do I can only go for an hour or so before I need to get up and work on something. If I was taking time off or didn't have a regular job and really got into a game I suppose I could go for 6-8 hours besides snacks and gentlemen's room breaks.

What's with this "sitting" nonsense?
Real gamers play
standing up
... ya buncha weak-legged sissy-marys.
On a more serious note: it usually depends on what size Big Gulp I have on hand while I'm playing. Could be as long as two hours, or as little as fifteen minutes.
If it's a fave FPS, I can usually play for about 90 minutes before nausea sets in.
Back in my teens, I could go for about four hours straight.

Not more than 2-3 hours realistically, unless I'm very much into a game then it can be a bit more.

But how can you just
stand
? If I stood while playing I would feel obligated to shout compulsively (WOOO! WOOOO! WHOOOO!), dance, and give the goat (which is how I act while playing my MAME arcade cabinet)
My seven-year-old hops around the room like a jackrabbit while playing on the 360. Not sure how he can, but he whoops my butt in Plants Versus Zombies whilst doing this.

I've been known to sit for extended hours along 7-8 hours when I was younger, but now that I am older and hairier the hair on the back of my legs and ass hurt after sitting for a while. I have to move and do something else in an hour usually.

Not more than 1-2 hours (unless something really good get me stuck on the couch), but back in 1998 i spent up to 8 hours without getting a break with Ocarina of Time completing the Fire Temple and the Water Temple in a sequence. I was really nauseous after it, i almost puked on the controller. Never did it again.

Sometimes I get up at 5AM and play straight until around 10AM. My longest was probably a straight through speed-run of RE4 clocked in around 6-7 hours though.

For some reason the more booze I have the lower my score gets.
I thought this was law. But there are exceptions. I very vaguely remember being completely trashed and completely dominating a match of Halo 3 with like 35 kills.
Most of the time its really sloppy and running around and getting like 3. Or playing a game that would be easier sober and doing terribly.
I was way better at WoW when I was wasted. I posted my best dps when I was blacked out, not even joking.

These large size soda drinks were banned here in NYC, so I switched to beer.
Gaming sessions got shorter...obviously.

You should have seen me when I used to play Guitar Hero/Rock Band. I couldn't just stand, I had to jump around and move.

Normally I go for 2-3 hours in one sitting and this happens maybe once or twice a week.
I really only marathon game when my brother comes over to visit. I have my flat screen/new consoles and CRT/old consoles set up in the same room so he played Skyrim on 360 while I played Chrono Trigger on SNES start to finish, so about 18-20 hours.

That is a pretty wicked gaming session if I do say so!
