Hey all. Well, my Fat PS3 finally kicked the bucket, and I could not be more upset. Anyway, I wanna replace it with a Slim Model, which brings me to my question: Will the Hard Drive from my fat one work in a slim one?

Yes and no. It will work, but it will require a format first. That's the bad part about it. And there's no way to transfer the stuff once your PS3 dies either that I've found.

So, not only do I lose all my hard earned data, but I can't even re-download all my games/DLC from PSN?!

Has it died completely?  There is an option under Settings to back up your harddrive to an external source.

But like noise said, all of your games/movies/videos/etc. are tied to your PSN account, so you can always redownload those.

My fat 60GB died again today. I tried the Blowdryer trick as a last act of desperation and to my amazment it worked. Let see how long this fix lasts.

Back up your saves if you haven't already. If that "trick" isn't a permanent fix it could be only a matter of time until it breaks again.
