2001:  A Space Odyssey (HD-DVD) - (1968) - C

Reason for score -- i don't understand the immense love some people have for this movie....it was interesting, had amazing visuals, but it was just way too drawn out and got way too ridiculous at the end and the plot had no real cohesion....

I thought the movie was a bit rubbish but then I read the book. It actually explains what's going on so it made more sense when I watched the movie again.

Saw "I am Legend" last night.

Overall, a very entertaining movie and worth seeing at the theatre. It should get nominations for Sound and Sound Effects. Possibly makeup.

My only complaints are that there's a ridiculous amount of product placement in the 1st 10-15 minutes (which distracts from the action), there's not quite enough backstory to tie in everything that happened, and that the entertainment value largely depends on the audience's ability to suspend one's own disbelief. If you're able to do so, the movie is a 3 out of 4 stars; if you cannot suspend your disbelief so much, and you pick through the plotholes, it's a 2.5.

Wil Smith did a very good job, acting and action-wise.

Go see it...but at matinee prices. Grin

I heard that the monsters are not vampires. That sucks, not sure if I want to see it.

In the book they are not really vampires either. Neville questions how chemical warfare could turn someone into a vampire. Through research he discovers it's a bacterial infection that causes the vampire symptoms.

He finds that it's not actually a wooden stake through the heart that kills them but any puncture wound with an object that holds the wound open long enough for air to enter the bloodstream.

And the fear of crosses only affected those who were of a christian religion. An atheist vampire had no fear of a cross.

Same with the garlic it wasn't specifically garlic but something in the chemical makeup of it, in the book onions had the same effect.

I just finished watching Harry Potter And The Order Of The Phoenix.

I just watched Office Space all the way thorugh, finally. Such a great movie.

Last night I watched Fearless. Great story, and a fitting end to Jet Li's career.

I watched a few episodes of Transformers: Armada today. Not too bad but I liked Transformers: Energon better. The human characters looked a little weak. I did read that Armada was a really rushed series and some of the art looks unfnished in several episodes.

Damn! Long overdue. It's a classic.

As far as the monsters in "I am Legend", they were more like the speedy zombies in the Dawn of the Dead remake from a few years ago. And it really didn't bother me that they weren't vampires since I never read the book.

Watched a couple full eps and then bits and pieces of a old TV series called Earth2.

From what i saw it wasn't that bad but apparently it was a failed early 90s show that was on FOX.
