Just finished watching an episode of Air Disasters on the Smithsonian Channel.

I've been watching Mayday to pass the time in the lab and the one that blows my mind the most is the FedEx flight that almost got hijacked. The co-pilot is half paralyzed and doing fighter jet stunts in a Boeing 747, flipping over about 165 degrees and going into a freefall before correcting the plane and regaining control. The other two guys are badly beaten but fighting the would be hijacker (he was a FedEx employee that was trying to hitch a ride so he could crash the plane into headquarters). Eventually the half paralyzed co-pilot switches up with the captain, so the flight engineer and co-pilot are keeping the attacker pinned down while the captain takes the plane down and lands. All of the staff on the flight including the would be hijacker (I think, been awhile since I watched this one) were ex-Navy pilots. Sadly, none of the heroes could fly since their injuries caused permanent damage.

That was one messed-up situation right there.

BTW I think I'm addicted to air-disaster documentary shows; I just finished watching a bunch of them. And after having done so, I know one thing for certain: I am never, ever going to fly on Air France. Of the four shows I caught that featured Air France disasters, three of them were crashes with no survivors, and one was a hostage-taking situation.

On an up note: there's the story of the Gimli Glider, which I'd been hearing about for years. If nothing else, it provides a pretty solid argument for going with a single system of measurement.

I've similarly been fascinated with Mt Everest deaths.

Any of them involving an Air France flight crashing into it?

'Cuz I'd totally watch that.

Still blowing through a bunch of commercial air disaster documentaries.

Now I'm afraid of DC-10s; those things are the Ford Pintos of the skies.

Methinks I'll just walk everywhere from here on in.

Eyeshield 21

Maybe I should start watching that one again, and get away from watching jumbo jets falling from the sky.   paranoid

In the TV show, I left off where the Devil Bats went to Houston after the close game against the NASA Shuttles.

In the manga, I left off where the team went up against the Shinryuuji Nagas in the Christmas Bowl tournament.

Not too much diff between the manga's storyline and the show's so far, near as I can tell.

BTW why is the Fist of the North Star slumming it here as the protagonist's main rival? Huh? HUH? HUUUH?!?!  Wink

Just started watching Twin Peaks for the first time.  Very amusing and interesting.  And also fun to pick out where Deadly Premonition got so many of it's oddities from.
