Date Night - (2010) - B-
--> This movie uses the "so bad it's good" technique quite well.

The Magnificent Seven - (1960) - C+
--> Not nearly as good as Kurosawa's masterpiece, but I didn't expect that.

The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford - (2007) - B+
--> I missed atleast the first 40 minutes of this movie, but that wasn't an issue. A movie like this is 95% atmosphere, 5% story. Enjoyable movie and nice vistas of the open landscape.

Fast Food Nation - (2006) - A-
--> Great movie about the meat processing industry. Everyone who eats a lot of fast food should watch this.

The Kids Are All Right - (2010) - A
--> Excellent movie about two children of a lesbian couple who seek out and meet their sperm donor.

All Quiet on the Western Front - (1979) - C
--> Good acting in some parts, but really tedious. The movie should've been 30 minutes shorter. This is a remake of the 1930s version, which is said to be far superior. I haven't seen that one yet. It also really feels dated in the war scenes. The explosions look so fake. It's like they used a bunch of fire crackers and thought "no one will know the difference". Movies have come a long way since then, it's remarkable. This is the opposite of Saving Private Ryan when it comes to the fighting scenes.

Might want to check that back out, probably the best part of the movie is the narration in the beginning ten minutes.

Interesting. I didn't feel like I was missing any important information, but thanks for letting me know.

What I really meant was that there are movies where, if you miss the first 15-30 minutes, you're screwed because you can't follow the story anymore. This isn't one of those movies.

EDIT: Well, atleast I've now seen 2.5 minutes of the 10 minutes you mentioned. Smiley

Cartoon Network put quite a few shows on Netflix recently, so I've been watching:

Adventure Time
Batman Beyond
Chowder
Courage the Cowardly Dog
Regular Show

No Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack, though. Sad

Cinderella - (1950) - B+
--> Great Disney movie, lovely animation. Lots of funny moments with the cat and mice.

Limitless - (2011) - B
--> Good movie about a guy taking magic pills that give him access to "100%" of his brain. The ending is a little odd, but otherwise very enjoyable.

Fantasia - (1940) - B-
--> I wasn't crazy about this one. Some scenes took far too long (the one with the dinosaurs) whereas others were better (the one with the centaurs). Overall I think this movie would've done better had it been 30 minutes shorter. That would've put it more in line with other Disney movies.

The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou - (2004) - B+
--> Second time I watched this one. Amazing movie considering how absoluly stupid/random the plot is.

Robin Hood - (2010) - D
--> Poor, dime a dozen action movie. This could've been about anything really and it wouldn't have made a difference. Cate Blanchett was the best part of this movie, even though it was absolutely rediculous how she suddenly showed up for the big fight at the end.

Happy-Go-Lucky - (2008) - A+
--> Wonderful movie. Very original and I liked the unpressurized way the story unfolded. The actor portraying the driving instructor is amazing.

Started watching season 5 of Dexter with my girlfriend. See if we can catch up and shit.

Also been watching Bob's Burgers which is really good. Wish I hadn't shunned it for so long.

Just finished watching an episode of Air Disasters on the Smithsonian Channel.

A commercial airliner's engines fail, and the pilot-- who lost his left eye in the El Salvador civil war a few years before-- manages to safely land the plane on a narrow levee several miles south of New Orleans... .

...without the aid of depth perception.

Holy freakin' crap, that guy is more badass than all of us combined could ever hope to be. And don't you ever forget it!
