For the cable set up we have, it's tv, phone, and Internet for about $150/month. I don't use the TV aspect too much, only for 3 or 4 shows, and we don't use the phone at all, but it was cheaper with than without....we just use our iPhones. I could do without the package and just get the Internet, but my fiancée likes to have the TV service.

Yeah, that's still pretty nice. Our cable only gives about 35 channels. Sad

How much does the cable cost over there?

Last I checked, our package is 100-150 channels. But with an extra two set top boxes (Three in total) the bill is something like £70 a month just for tv. It's a waste because I don't watch cable, and dad only watches sports channels. One of the boxes doesn't get used at all. We're stuck in an 18 month contract, though.

I use a digital freeview tuner card in my PC. It uses the roof aerial to get around 40 freeview channels.

That's a lot. Shocked

We pay like €100 a year or something.

Here it's $98.95/month for 165 or so channels, but it can go as low as $32.97 for 41 channels and a couple other packages in between.

Mind you I don't have cable at all so I can't speak on it's merits if any. I have a set of rabbit ears that give me the only two good channels worth watching if I ever decided that watching TV interested me. Tongue

started last night...finished today....

Tombstone (Laserdisc) - (1993) - A-

Reason for score -- good movie, but a good portion of the characters are not very believable for the time period....probably because i know them from other movies...

The Terminator

I can't believe I've never seen this. I've seen the second one loads of times, and the third a few times. I suppose it's because the first one has hardly ever been on TV.

Ice Age 2: The Meltdown - (2006) - B

--> I've always found the Ice Age movies worse than the Dreamworks/Pixar ones.

watched this evening....

Hoop Dreams:  The Criterion Collection - (1994) - A

Reason for score -- really great documentary....gives you a great view into the ghetto and what people do trying to get out....

The Polar Express (Presented In 3-D) - (2004) - C-

Reason for score -- gave it to my mom as a xmas eve present (the movie takes place on xmas eve)....we've seen it before, but never in 3D....what a gimmick.....it started to bother my eyes about 5 minutes in....

watched tonight....

Platoon:  Special Edition:  The Ultimate Oliver Stone Collection - (1986) - A

Reason for score -- same reason as when i watched my laserdisc copy a few days ago....i didn't realize the stone set had this movie in it until today, so i figured i would watch it and see how the two compare, knowing that the DVD would obviously look better than the laserdisc....

Last night I watched Toy Story 2.

I think Toy Story is great. It does have a typical Disney story line but I think it's done very well. There aren't any cheap, smutty jokes. Unlike a lot of Disney sequels, Toy Story 2 was actually good and had a meaningful plot. For example, Cinderella is a classic. Cinderella II: Dreams Come True was awful. Or it probably was.

I think Toy Story is great.
I think so too. Toy Story 1 & 2 are my favorite kids movies.

Toy Story 3 comes out this summer. Buzz gets recalled to Taiwan, and the rest of the gang goes to save him.....
That's no longer the case. The studio that was working on Toy Story 3 was shut down after the Disney-Pixar fuse.

The new plot is:
Quote from: Toy Story 3
The film has Woody, Buzz, and the rest of their toy-box friends being dropped off at a day-care center after their owner, Andy, leaves for college.

Hmmm, it was probably an out-of-date page you were reading.

It doesn't bother my that much that the plot has changed. I feel more comfortable with the Pixar guys making the movie than a random studio, anyway. I'd hate to see this series being messed up by a bad movie.
