Last night I watched Dr Who. It was the best episode they've had for a while. I really dislike Catherine Tate, so I was horrified to hear she was his sidekick in this season. She's actually not great. Dr Who is pretty cheesy but I think it's quite amusing sometimes. Last night's episode was the end of the world with a massive invasion from the Daleks. It ended with the Doctor regenerating on a cliff hanger. We need to wait until next week to see the rest of it.

Then I watched Pan's Labrynth. I like how it wasn't a soppy, romantic Disney/Hollywood film. Rather grim. The subtitles didn't hurt it at all. If anything, they added to the story-telling as if it was a picture book I was reading.

I saw that last week. It was better than I expected it to be, considering I don't really care for McAvoy or Jolie, nor do I care much for martial arts/gun kata movies.

Hancock

I was lucky and our town got a somewhat advance showing.

Great movie.  There is a major plot twist in the middle of the movie that changes everything.  I wont give it away, but it left me with a lot of questions and the plot full of holes.  I guess that is what sequels are for.

Seriously? I thought it was garbage. It's seemed to have been written by a pot smoking energy drink junkie that had never fired a weapon--or read a screenplay for that matter--before. The acting was good except for McAvoy, who seemed a hollow shell. The action was sort of cool but it was presented in such a serious manner that I found it unbearable. Shoot 'em Up, for example, had similar crazy action scenes; but it didn't try to pass itself off as serious.

Spider-Man 2.1 - 2-Disc Extended Cut (136 Minute Version) - (2004) - C-

Reason for score -- this series just goes downhill....and the extra 8 minutes isn't gonna help it.....
