It took a good three years but I finally have another gripe. Games that require you to be online to play SINGLE PLAYER. I'm not sure if this was a problem pre-Diablo 3 because I have been out of the loop but damn! I should also add weekly maintenance for a SINGLE PLAYER game. I think I've only played twice multiplayer, both times with friends. I usually just play by myself and want to be left the hell alone. While I'm at it I'll add nerfing a game because the general population (Entitled Generation) wants to beat the game and get every achievement on day one.

I believe Ubisoft can proud themselves to be the pioneers in "always-on" Internet-required DRM. There was a major outlash of PC gamers against it, but they could still be doing it.

As of this moment the PS3, for mine just gave me the flashing red light of death... for the third time since I've owned it...

I can proudly say that I do will not play any game that requires "always on" status save an MMO. That paranoid "treat everyone like a thief" attitude makes me sick.

I agree. Not only is it unkind towards customers, but it actually promotes piracy. As a pirated version won't require the always-on DRM, all you end up doing is punishing honest customers.
It's not that different from regular DVD's having a ton of unskippable ads and warnings, yet the rips start playing the movie right away.

Digging a big hate of mine from the archives of my mind here. Getting disconnected while playing Phantasy Star Online. Anytime anyone called the home phone it happened.... Glad technology has come a long way since the 56k modem era.

Enough friends and relatives finally complained to my parents back in those days that they could never get through on the phone that I got banned from Diablo on our PC. Good times!

Anytime someone would call while I was playing Ultima Online, Team Fortress Classic, and later Phantasy Star Online, the game's screen would freeze and the call would come through. Since I was married it didn't matter (it was usually my wife), but when I finally managed to log back in I would inevitably be DEAD. It sucked most in UO, especially since there was a good chance some DB had looted my corpse. Grrr.

Definitely something you need to learn to deal with if you want to beat many NES games. Its pretty harsh on a few titles for sure though.

It always used to bother me when your character takes damage or dies just because they touched the enemy. Like your guy is extremely allergic to everything and goes into anaphylactic shock the instant he brushes up against a ninja or whatever.
Another thing is when you are the one tasked with saving the world, or a town, against ultimate doom, yet you are still required to buy your own weapons and supplies, often from the people you are trying to save. First of all, what are you saving those supplies for should I fail without them? Second you want me to save your little village or whatever AND make a profit off of it? Sometimes I'd like to let the zombies just win.
I also dont like it when your character shows up to save to world but they dont bother to bring anything with them, instead relying on whatever they finds along the way. Like if M said to James Bond, "You know, normally Q would make you a bunch of gadgets and stuff, but this time we thought it would be more interesting if you just kinda winged it." Why do video game characters have to have such poor planning?

Love this observation. I never really thought about it, but that's a great point. "Rambo, we need you to save the POW's. What, weapons? Can't you just use whatever you come across, like in the first movie?" "Wait, we'll give you a knife. Cool?"

Damn I wish I could fit that in my sig...lmfao
Personally I always wondered how the hell monsters always seem to have more gold and better gear than dead adventurers you loot. Sure monsters may pick up some gold and eat it but armor? Weapons? I'd love to know how they fit that into their stomachs when they're 1/10th the size of the item(s) in question.

I have thought about this for years.
