Hello all.

Life in general has been a bit taxing on me as of late, but I did want to share a couple of unique additions to my collection.

The first is the Floppy Disk add-on for the Bandai Pippin.  This was not widely utilized at all and released only in Japan.  To be honest, this does not really add anything to the gaming experience of the Pippin at all.  It is interesting though.  The pics:

This is how the FDD looks when attached to the Pippin main console (stock pic since I haven't had a chance to take a pic of mine).

The second item of note is even more obscure - the Tomy Pyuuta Jr.  This console is based on the Tomy Pyuuta hybrid-computer system which was released in Japan (in North America as the Tomy Tutor, in Europe as the Grandstand Tutor).  The Pyuuta Jr. is the stand-alone, pure gaming console and has a limited library.  Some pics of this rare bird:

Once I mess around with both of them a bit I'll fill you in on what they are like.  Just thought you might find these interesting so I thought I would share them.

Happy gaming.

Terry

I was thinking exactly the same thing...those must be so hard to find.

Nice pictures Terry!

Thanks for the feedback guys!  Finding these systems is a bit hard and takes some time.  I have a trusted seller in Japan that keeps an eye out for me for specific systems/add-ons that I have targeted for acquisition.  This helps out a great deal.

Once I fire these beasts I'll shoot a quick mini-review of some of their games, along with a full fledged System Overview of each.

Thanks again and I am glad you find them as interesting as I do.

I love your spectacularly obscure/unique consoles.
How often do you find something you have heard of before?

Thanks Izret.  To answer your question, not too often.  While building my collection I spent a great deal of time researching the technology through the decades.  Every so often I will learn about a certain model that was odd or some obscure model of a semi-dedicated console (PC-50X family).  But I do admit, that I may have felt this way before and have been pleasantly surprised.  One of these days I will start looking at handhelds... right after I score a RDI Halcyon (in my dreams).

Dang, the things you can find! Good stuff. I found this thing called the "Voyager" and it looks like a Gameboy ripoff but I ended up getting rid of that.
