I watched most of the Superbowl yesterday. I fell asleep on the couch during the 3rd Quarter because it was past 3AM here already.
(I'm having today, monday, off)
It was the first American Football game I've seen in my life. They don't air the sport often here (read: never) but I guess the Superbowl was important enough to show. I saw it on BBC1 though, Belgium channels would never air that.
It was quite enjoyable and interesting to see the sport as it really is because I only know it of movies like
Remember The Titans and stuff like that. I would've preferred to see more sport and less talk though. At times I felt I was watching a talkshow with a bit of sport in between rather than sport with commentary. Dividing the game into Quarters is already bad enough, but having the million Time-Outs is just too much.
Also, I wonder why they don't call it American Rugby instead. It shares far more traits with that sport than with normal football (= soccer).
I have a few questions about the game:
1) Does the black paint below the eyes has a purpose or is it purely decorative?
2) Do they project the arrows (with 1&10, etc....) on the floor with a strong beamer or something? At first I thought it was with a computer but the players are able to walk on them.
3) What do those arrows mean?
