Picked up Monkey King for the Wii for $5 new at GameStop. Not bad for a Wii game.

Sony Component AV Cable - new - €29.99
I know it's a lot of money for a cable, but I only want the official Sony cable and not some cheap 3rd party one. Not a lot of stores have this item in Belgium (and certainly not in large quantities) so when I saw it I didn't think twice. At the moment I can't do anything with it, but once I get my TV in late June/early July I'll hook up my PS2 with this cable.
I'm glad I got it now, because I know that if I wait until I have my TV to buy it, no store will have it in stock and I'll have to wait for weeks and I don't have the patience for that.

I went out and picked up component cables and was later told that i could have used a bunch of RCA cables since there is no noticeable difference to the average person.
Which was rather disheartening to hear.

I honestly think that there is a HUGE difference between component and composite cables. It's worth the extra money for me.

I think most people who say there's no difference, probably tried using standard RCA (yellow/white/red) cables in place of proper component (red/green/blue) in component jacks. Most RCA cables aren't a proper 75 ohm and even in component jacks, would cause signal degradation and impedance loss. Matching coloured cables to their proper jacks is more than just getting it right. They aren't the same internally at all.
As far as image quality there's a huge difference, especially for image sharpness and shaking. Component cables offer a more stable image that doesn't jitter around a lot. That comes in handy especially when your trying to read menus and text. It also cuts down on the jaggies. You'd be surprised at how sharp and crisp a PS1 game can look with component jacks.

I'm surprised that anyone would think that.
I even bought an S-video cable for my PS2, even though the difference between Composite and S-video is much smaller than between Composite and Component. And I
still
thought it was worth it. Colors are more vivid, everything is less blurry, text is more easily readable, ... and that's just S-video! You'd have to be blind not to see the difference between Composite and Component.
