This thread is for anything fitness or health related.

I plan on using the gym here on rfgeneration a lot more this year as well as the gym in my basement. In 2008 I watched some family members lose 60 plus pounds from April to December. It's my turn to lose some weight. In 2005 when I got out of the Marine Corps I could run five miles no problem. Now I get winded walking up a hill. So I have started this topic as a diary for anything health or fitness related.

Thanks Sirgin!

Today I did some weight training and took some measurements to see where I am and it's not good.

Weight: 267 lb (121.4 kg)
Body fat: 35.0 %
Bench One Rep Max: 195 lb (88.6 kg)
and the rest was just as bad.

Don't give up and you'll improve. Smiley

Also, try drinking water instead of soda/lemonade/... . It really makes a huge difference.

Today, I shockingly ran a mile. The old dog is a bit sick so I left her at home and went for a jog with the younger dog. The field is a mile long and I went halfway along it and back.

Walked to classes and back. Pretty much the only exercise I get, not sure how I stay so fit.

The month of January was not so good, I was sick two of the four weeks. I still managed to lose 8 lbs and now in February I will get back into a workout routine.

I was 260 pounds about 10 years ago. I did the Atkins Diet (low carb) and lost 30 pounds over 4 months. It was good motivation for me and helped kick my addiction to sugar/salt etc but I needed something more to shift the weight.

I took up boxing and muay thai boxing and lost another 14 pounds. I ate way too much but worked out like a demon so my weight stayed around 215.

Then I changed to a low calorie diet and the weight has dropped off. Now I'm 190 pounds but I was 180 right before Christmas. Getting back into the routine now.

Good luck everyone!

I met a friend who I haven't seen for a while today. He said I look like I've lost weight. Then his daughter turned up who also said I look like I've lost weight.

I had lost 9lbs before Christmas, but I put a lot of it back on over Christmas. I weighed myself when I got home and I'm back to where I was before Christmas. Smiley I couldn't work out why I had lost so much weight because I haven't really changed my routine. I had stopped taking my medication in October, so that could well be the reason. One of the side effects of the medicine was "weight gain or weight loss" - a little ambiguous but my weight ballooned when I started taking it four years ago.

It's nice when people notice. Cheesy

Since I started working at the college I've lost 5lbs. That's just from walking around all over the college grounds each day. It doesn't sound like much but it's something. Now I need a new belt, or a new hole in my belt, because my trousers keep falling down.
