Well I was supposed to be going somewhere with my family tonight, when we got a call that it was canceled.  We were already halfway there, so I said lets go to the goodwill in a nearby town.

I first picked up a N64 console for 8.00 and then I seen this box that looked like an old video game system. I picked it up and looked at it and thought " I think that is a RARE system".  After looking it over really well, I realized it uses VCR tapes for games. So I thought it was just some old junk toy.

I put it back, and found my wife. She says "where is that thing you were looking at"  "aren't you going to buy it".  And I said no I thought it was something Rare, but I'm not really sure, it might be just junk.  She said you better get it or you'll be kicking yourself later.

So I got it. And looked it up online when I got home and was glad my wife talked me into buying it.

Worlds of Wonder Action Max System.  The box is a little rough, but the insides are in great shape.

Anyway it was $10.00 and here are some photos.

I would like to get some feedback on this, as I am not real familiar with this and there is very limited information about it online. I was wondering how rare this system is and what the rough value of this system is.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Nice find! As for information, look no further than our friends over at the Video Game Console Library:

That is very cool indeed. It doesn't sound like it's much fun to play, but definitely worth it as a collectible.

I hope you've still got a VCR to try this out.

Wow the memories. I actually owned this system. It was given to me by a relative as a birthday gift. I can't remember what ever happened to it.

Great find.

Looks like there are a couple on eBay for BINs of $155 and $115, but from what I can tell, one hasn't actually sold on there for a while now, which makes it hard to gauge market value. What's certain, though, is that you got a great deal on a very interesting and unique system. I've wanted to try one of these out for quite a while now!!

About a nyear ago on eBay they were going between 25-60 shipped.

Never the less great find. You can complete the library fairly easily too. I think there were only 5 games.

I still own my original one of these!  It was a blast back then!  I remember we got it at a Hills department store when they were liquidating for $5.00.  I had a great time with the flying shooter game.

Nice find!  You get any games with it?  Try it out?  Any good?  So how rare is this thing?

Thanks guys for the info!!

I haven't tried it out yet.  My wife and I have been busy "cleaning house"

And by "cleaning house" , I mean we have been going through everything in our house/basement/and garage and getting rid of or selling everything we don't want/use.

I can't beleive how much crap we have accumulated over 7 years.  I will let you know when I get around to testing it.

@ shaggy
It only came with 1 game. the one shown in the picture.  SONIC FURY

Very nice find.

It's not any fun to play but a great "oddity" for the collection.

I have the 5 games that out for it. Still run across them in thrifts from time to time. Most often the pack in game Sonic Fury. Blue Thunder was the only tough one to find.

I actually saw one of these at a thrift on Saturday.
