The Southbridge is not directly connected to the CPU, rather, the northbridge connects the southbridge to the CPU. Phalanx Close-In Weapon System (CIWS) nicknamed R2D2.
While in the Marine Corps, I spent some time on the USS Nassau and I remember being inside the ship when they tested the R2D2. I said something along the lines off "What the fuck is that?"
