I've been using eBay mostly to get my hands on new collectibles lately, since as far as I know yard/garage/carboot sales don't exist here....and they don't exactly have any real thrift stores...

Anyway, among the things that I won recently are a couple cool nintendo items..

Official wooden silver Nintendo storage unit for 28 games/controller/zapper/etc for 4.50 euro (+5.50 shipping):

http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBa...STRK%3AMEWN%3AIT&rd=1

A purple/yellow Nintendo NES joystick that I've never come across before...and being a NES accessory collector myself, that doesn't happen often Wink (I also bought 15 pal nes games from this guy with a bunch of PAL-only games for a total of 35 euro shipped!  Who says eBay is a rip-off? Wink):

I hed never even heard about these Atari Force comic books until about 1 hour before the bidding ended.
I am going to have to do some research on these tomorrow but according to the auction i have all 20 of them.

Bought some cool Nintendo merchandise...prices are all pretty cheap, except the shipping for the two US auctions is gonna add up Sad

Nintendo Trading Cards (Not TOPPS):

http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBa...STRK%3AMEWN%3AIT&rd=1

Nintendo Worlds of Power  Complete 4 Book Box Set (Blaster Master, Metal Gear, Ninja Gaiden, and Castlevania II):

http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBa...STRK%3AMEWN%3AIT&rd=1

LOT 4 NES Emroidery Patterns Mario TMNT Zelda RARE 1990

http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBa...STRK%3AMEWN%3AIT&rd=1

The trading cards surface on eBay by the same seller off and on, so if anyone else wants any I'm sure the seller will put up more for auction, or else just contact him.  He ships internationally, so shouldn't be a problem.  The books are not THAT special, but I had to get 'm sooner or later Wink   I'm also glad I won those embroidery patterns, since it's the first time I came across those.

Thanks, I really expected the prices to go a lot higher for the Worlds of Power box set and the embroidery patterns.  I guess sometimes it is possible to find some good deals on eBay Wink

Check this one out. I heard this was a pretty good game. And I hadn't seen it for less than $14.99 used in stores.

And it's got 4-player splitscreen.

Just won this auction on the Dutch eBay...Nintendo Super Mario edition Pepsi cans from the Netherlands, 1993.  I know of the Super Mario Bros soda released in the US, but never heard or seen of these before...and even though I feel as though I bid a little too much for these empty cans, I'm sure that I won't come across these again for a while Wink

those are cool. I enjoy those types of items. sure you can't really do anything with them but the odd little converstion pieces dress up the collection nicely.

nice score.

Thanks...I agree, these kinds of lesser-known items are usually much more interesting to see and talk about than a common NES game/etc.  It would be nice if someone would someday make a database for all of the Nintendo merchandise and collectibles out there.  I'm sure that there's a lot of this kinda stuff out there!

at the very least we could do an image gallery. might make a nice addition to the site.

call "Game Swag" are something. It could be a gallery of promotional items and such.

data is great but just simple load of pictures is nice too.

Sounds like a good idea, although I think adding data is much better, especially for in the long-run, because there's so much out there that all the pictures without data will be pretty chaotic.  When I made my NES database several years ago, I also added an entry with just pics of merchandise, etc...and before I knew it, there was so much stuff there that it was almost impossible to check if similar items had been added twice or not.  It would be cool to use a database interface similar to the one used on here but then something like "Nintendo Collectibles" as a system, and for each separate item a separate listing with publisher, item type, year of release, etc, and of course most importantly pictures! Cheesy  Maybe even add retail value or something to make it more interesting Wink
