My truck is 7 years newer and has 100,000 more, and I don't even drive it that much.

That is pretty low. My 02 Sunfire has a little under 50,000 miles and I thought it was doing well.

I've only put around 18000 miles on it since I bought it three years ago. It was owned by an old lady who barely drove it. When I ran the VIN, I saw it was driven around 12000 miles in 1993. I bought it at 18000 miles, so she barely drove it after the first year.

My dad's '02 Mercedes has 440k km on it. According to google that's 273k miles. I'm pretty sure it could go twice that distance easily. It's the same model that a lot of cab drivers use here in Belgium.

An old car with that kind of mileage on it is pretty much worthless, even though it could drive forever. Last year my dad had an accident (a stupid woman drove into the side of his car, basically) and they had to tow his car away. The insurance told him the car was total loss. It took my dad almost 4 weeks to get his car back and repairs were only €3000 in the end. Of course the car still drives perfectly.

Of all the vehicles I've worked on in my life living here in the states I can honestly say the vehicle that I've seen with the most miles with original engine and trans is a '02 Chevy S-10 pickup truck. 488,000 miles (785,600 KM) on this damn thing and still going. Thats pretty damn crazy! Not many vehicles come close to the longevity of a GM product. They may not be high class but GM vehicles can outlast any high end import here in North America. Thats coming from a Ford guy! I work on cars for a living and I can honestly tell you whats a POS and whats a good car. And yes I know there are vehicles that have outlasted this amount of miles/KM but GM has the best amount of longevity, and their pretty cheap when it comes to repairs to keep them going... forever.

Of all the vehicles I've worked on in my life living here in the states I can honestly say the vehicle that I've seen with the most miles with original engine and trans is a '02 Chevy S-10 pickup truck. 488,000 miles (785,600 KM) on this damn thing and still going. Thats pretty damn crazy! Not many vehicles come close to the longevity of a GM product. They may not be high class but GM vehicles can outlast any high end import here in North America. Thats coming from a Ford guy! I work on cars for a living and I can honestly tell you whats a POS and whats a good car. And yes I know there are vehicles that have outlasted this amount of miles/KM but GM has the best amount of longevity, and their pretty cheap when it comes to repairs to keep them going... forever. 

When I see GM vehicles being junked its simply because they rust away before the engine gives out. I had a 84 Cavalier in high school, the outer sheet metal on the doors and fenders were rusted through halfway up. The floor on the driver's side had completely rusted through (I actually had a cookie sheet under the carpet so I didn't fall through). But, the engine had over 200,000 miles and ran perfect. Sure it had blown through a couple head gaskets, overdrive had to be disconnected, and the gas tank leaked and only held 2.5 gallons at a time. It didn't matter if it below 0 outside and it hadn't ran in years, it would start right up and didn't smoke or anything.
Having that car makes me glad that my S-10 now has essentially the same motor. Too bad my wheel wells, tailgate, and rear door are already starting to rust through.
