There are certain queer times and occasions in this strange mixed affair we call life when a man takes this whole universe for a vast practical joke, though the wit thereof he but dimly discerns, and more than suspects that the joke is at nobody's expense but his own.

Nothing fancy, just a 2009 Ford Ranger with a Mazda 2.3L DOHC engine. Great on gas 23 miles city and around 25 highway. Eventually I'll get this bastard fitted with a Mazda turbo kit. Want to keep it looking stock when I do it to keep it a sleeper. Well except for my tinted windows that I already got.

2005 Ford Focus ZX5, AKA my little "4-cylinder putt-putt," and "my favorite money pit."

It's pretty much Ford's subtle attempt to copy the look of the Chrysler PT cruiser, if not the performance.

I've put 120,000 miles on it so far. The original transmission gave out right before the warranty was set to expire, so I dodged a financial bullet to have it replaced.

Other replacements made:

- Front driver- and passenger-side manual window roller-upper handles (both broke right off within a couple months of each other)

- At least three sets of brakes

- God knows how many sets of tires

- Front driver-and passenger-side seats

- Ignition assembly

A couple months ago I broke my key off in the trunk lock; the piece that broke off is still stuck in there. Fortunately, my dash has a trunk-release button, so it's just a minor inconvenience. But what really sucked was that it was one of those chip keys that cost me $70 to have made.

BTW if you think I've put this car through the wringer, you might be shocked to know that what it's gone though is nothing compared to previous autos I've driven.

I've got a 2000 Chevy S-10. It's a 4 cylinder so it doesn't have all the power I would like, but it's good enough for 95% of my driving. It even manages to carry a bed full of firewood with no problem.
Still this.

2006 Acura RSX Type-S and 2009 Ford Mustang (6-cyl). Comparable horsepower between the two stock, but the Mustang feels quicker.
