I rember those days for sure. With a set top box we had you could get it to stay 1/2 way between two channels and it'd come in good for a few minutes to a few hours.

I got a tripod today and tried it out on my Christmas tree. Photos have much more detail now because I'm not shaking.

^ Damn, that would be an expensive toy to be tired of after only two weeks. 

The detail in that shot is amazing. 

If you ever decide you want another lens, look into some of the Canon IS lenses, they can do wonders for hand held shots.
