Gotta post the coconut crab now, as it is the most frightening creature known to man.

I went to the park with my new lens today. The first two are 100% crops (zoomed in to 100% then cropped) but they're bigger than the forum allows so I'll link them.

I took this photo then lowered the camera to see my stupid dog had squeezed through the railings and was about to jump in the pond. I called her over but she went for a swim after the ducks which made me angry and embarrassed. When she finally came back she got stuck in the railings.

That was nice of them to paint it on cardboard and not the actual wall. I do hate when vandals ruin walls with their paint. Smiley

More than likely, they painted it ahead of time so they could only be at the "scene of the crime" for a few minutes.  Hilarious, still.

Those birds look almost like bald eagles.  How large are they?  (They look pretty large.)

Dave, Eddie, Time, a Leon and I went to a reds game this weekend.  The weather was great, the seats were fantastic, and the Reds were horrible.  Great night.

And some more interesting nature.

They're about twice the size of crows, so maybe 4 or 5 feet wingspans.

Working now.  The forum script added an extra "http://" to my link.

I got a polariser on Saturday ready for a car show next Monday. Manufacturer stalls are inside so I'm not sure a polariser would be any use there, but there will be thousands (yes, really!) of owner's cars outside in the paddocks. If the last four years are anything to go by it will be nice and sunny with some light cloud.

I got the Hoya polariser from a Hong Kong based website. They take Paypal so they don't get any of my card details, and they have a good reputation anyway. It doesn't seem fake - the packaging has no Engrish on it. The main reason for buying from them was it was £20 less than anywhere in the UK. They guarantee no import duty or VAT will be added - it was marked as £18 value when it was actually £26. £18 is the UK limit for tax free imports.

Anyway, on with some test pictures...

These were taken in Av mode so the shutter speeds are different. I was under the impression "metalic surfaces" like car paint wouldn't be affected by a polariser, but it seems to be the same as glass. Probably because of the lacquer on the paint.
