I feel that I am getting into more current gaming, but I really do want a car by not this summer, but next summer. So, what should I do?  Tongue

If you want the car, I'd save for that. It's a win-win situation for the PS3 too, because you'll end up getting it later hence cheaper. Smiley

I say you save for a car and keep on collecting. You've got a while before you need a car of your own, and the one you want isn't exactly expensive, so you shouldn't have much trouble saving for it.
The PS3 will always be there and will be cheaper by the time you get a car, too.

Hmmm.... 2.5k for a car in let me see... 1 year, 9 months 17 days (I want it on or before June 25, 2010). That is about 650 days, which means that I will have to save $3.85 everyday until then. Very doable, especially if I get a job this summer and on weekends.

Keep just collecting. Unless you're in a desperate situation, there's no rush to get a car.

I notice that you're 14. Some things to take into account when you get your own car are insurance (VERY high for 1st time drivers), gas (obviously), and the maintenence costs of owning a vehicle like oil changes, brakes, tire rotations (and new tires), not to mention possible other unforeseen repairs, etc.

Just keep collecting is my $.02 of advice based on personal experience. Good luck. Cool

Save up and get a PC, that's where all the good games are.

Save for a car.  It'll open up more options then just collecting or a PS3 ever would.  Besides, those two will feed off the car, the car wont feed off those two.

Well if you put it that way, I would have to say you better get saving.

You could just find a car for $250 like I did.

Well, If I save every penny I get, I could probably have 2.5k in under a year and a half. We'll see...

Yeah, the 2.5k is to cover the cost of a car + any small fixes/dealer/registration costs. I think my parents will pay insurance for the first year or so. I am aiming low though on a cost of a car. I saw a 93 Toyota Celica GT mint for $2,300 (Manual and 120k or so miles). That would be nice to have...  drool

Car comes first. Games come later.

Really.

You'll need transport to buy games later on.

What type of car was that?

That's not as easy at it seems. Imagine not buying a single game for a year and a half. Not exactly easy for a collector Tongue

To answer the $250 car question: Impounded car auctions.  slick ninja

To answer the self control question: I can imagine that. I'll just ask my parents and relatives for games on my birthday and xmas.  Wink

1991 Honda Accord that this guy I vaguely know was replacing with a 1999 Honda Accord. Had 180,000 miles on it when I got it, 187k now and still running. I've put about $1,250 into it and $550 of that was to replace the God damned driver side door handle mechanism when it decided to stop working one day (apparently it was some ridiculous part that needed replacing and involved dismantling the seat and door--probably one of the priciest repairs possible on the car Tongue).
