SPOILERS!!!!
Again - he explains it pretty much word for word for what I say. The idea that Laurie's mom was almost raped in the 50's and then forgives the man and falls in love with him enough to have sex with him and then the idea of millions of sperm - etc etc is something he speaks of.
Let me quote you exactly what he said.
"And yet, in each human coupling, a thousand million sperm vie odds by countless generations against the odds of your ancestors being alive; meeting; siring this precise son; that exact daughter until your mother loves a man she has every reason to hate, and of that union, of the thousand million children competing for fertilization, it was you, only you, that emerged."
It doesn't get anymore self explanatory.
You have to understand that as a standalone film from the perspective of someone who didn't read the novel a lot of the stuff was just weird.
It wasn't added. It's not even that corny. It's even symbolic how much Dan is tied so into his hero persona. Without it, he's not whole. Notice how Dan cannot have sex with Laurie, but once Dan is complete and has adopted the persona of Niteowl and her of Silk Spectre, he is able to have something that becomes perfectly natural to us. There's more to address in that complaint, but honestly? I don't feel like explaining EVERY little thing that you didn't get. If these are genuine questions, I'll do my best to answer em, but if these are just complaints, you can do your own research.
It wasn't that it was weird, it's you're approaching this with the wrong mindset. Most movies aren't ment to be visually engaging with symbolism in every frame and action. I repeat. Nothing done in this movie, much like the comic, was done without purpose. If you found something weird or didn't understand, it's probably because you didn't catch something or didn't put something together. It's not the movie that's weird or bad, it's you not being able to connect the dots. Don't blame the movie for your failings as it has nothing to do with reading the comic. I know many people who have yet to read the comic who understood alot of this. Again, not your fault for not getting all this - I have no doubt it takes repeat viewings, but don't try to put negative quality to this film because of things that are your own fault, especially when in the first case it was explained verbatim.
