Hey guys, I had a question about a trade.  I have Jetsons: Cogswells Caper (cart only) for NES,  Someone wants to trade me a very good CIB copy of it for my Demons Crest CIB, Super Gameboy CIB, and either $80 or my cart only copy of Jetsons.  What do you guys think?  I only paid $2.00 for DemonsCrest, $2.00 for Super Gameboy, and $50 for my cart only Jetsons.

So just to be clear you would be getting:

Johnny - Jetsons Cogwell's Caper CIB

for

Mr.X - Demon's Crest CIB + Super Gameboy CIB + $80 or Jetson's Cart

Monitarily the extra $80 is a bit much in favor of Mr.X, BUT Jetson's is an extremely hard title to get CIB. If you are interested in going the CIB route for your NES stuff it would be a great chance to pick it up. You can replace your CIB Demon's Crest MUCH easier than finding another CIB Jetsons even though they are similar in price. Super GB's even CIB are quite easy to come by so that shouldn't factor much into the equation.

It really depends on your collecting goals and/or what kind of games you'll enjoy more in your home. Unfortunately I don't think there is a clear cut yes or no for that trade. Just depends on how much you want that Jetson's CIB (and what kind of condition its in). Its a very nice item to have, but so is a CIB Demon's Crest you I assumed you found locally for $2 and your Jetson's Cart. Let us know what you decide!

Yeah, I got a steal on the Demons Crest, I've been unloading a lot of my SNES stuff to focus more on obtaining a CIB NES set. He originally wanted $180 for the CIB Jetsons.  I've checked out completed listings for my CIB Demons Crest and it has been selling in the $90-140 range, so I figured it was kind of close with the Super Gameboy and $80, but I figured if he would take my loose copy of Jetsons it would be closer, since I think it has been selling in the $50-$75 range.  I do feel he is getting the better deal, but like you said, it is very hard to find Jetsons CIB and in very good condition.

if the jetson's cart sells in the $50-75 range i would say the closest to a fair deal would be demon's crest CIB and jetson's cart only, and leave out the super gameboy. if he wants $180 for a straight sale then throwing in the super gameboy would be pushing it a little beyond the original price, even if it's not worth much.

Okay thanks guys.  I told him I couldn't do the $80 and I wanted to know if he would trade me just the box and manual for Jetsons (I already have the cart) He said he would trade just the box and manual for my Demons Crest, Super Gameboy and Ocarina of Time (just cart and box) and $50.  So if he wanted to do this trade, isn't he practically just saying his jetsons cart is valued at $30?  All that changed from the original trade was I added Ocarina of Time and he is taking away the cart of Jetsons and dropping $30.  Sorry if this is a little confusing.  By the way, what would you guys value a nice box and manual for The Jetsons at?

Sounds like he is valueing his Jetsons a bit high. But like I mentioned before, its quite hard to come by so its not out of the question. Both trades sound about the same to me. Zelda OoT is super common so I wouldnt worry much about replacing that one or the Super Gameboy if you decide to trade them and want them back eventually.

Wacky Races has one of the hardest to find licensed manuals for the system. Its typically in the last 10 that CIB fullset collectors need.

Hey, got another question.  I recently acquired a gold N64 controller, anyone have a value on it?  More than anything, I would like some info on it.  I remember 1000 gold controllers were given out as a prize for Nintendo Power's Mario Kart 64 contest.  I also seem to remember some gold N64 consoles being sold I think.  Were there any gold N64 controllers sold individually?  Any info would be appreciated and more than likely I am going to try and trade it, regardless of its value.

The Nintendo Power gold controllers are all labeled. If its not labeled its from the gold N64 TRU exclusive bundle. The Nintendo Power controllers are worth a decent penny, but the TRU ones are worth maybe a couple bucks more than all the other controllers on a good day.

it was sold through toys r us mainly, but not just in console bundles, there were also stand alone gold controllers in blister packaging like this

and in 2 differently styled cardboard boxes in japan, also seen in the pic.

here's the US console bundle, it had 2 gold controllers:

and the japan version that only came with 1:

there was also a special limited controller from Nintendo Power for their 100th issue shown here:

it had a Nintendo Power logo at the top shown in detail here:

and the last one i know of, there was one with vague origins that has the N64 logo in gold on it:

all the pics are from this site which has tons of info on various N64 games and hardware: http://finngamer.webs.com/nintendo64info.htm

Awesome!  Thanks, everyone.  I knew I remembered seeing some in blister packs at Toys R Us.

I see techwizard uses finngamer's website as much as I do.  Smiley

To add to Techwizard's comprehensive post, there were also two more Toys R Us bundles in the US that sold the gold controller.  One bundle contained the gold console with one gold controller, and the other was a Grey console that included a Gold controller.

The Nintendo Power 100 controller was given out numerous times.  There were a few offers and contests in Nintendo Power for it, as well as it being for sale in the Nintendo Power magazine with enough points.  It wasn't limited to 1000 units, but it is rare and worth $50+ in good shape.

The last picture Techwizard posted is the rarest N64 controller.  It was given away as a prize in 1997 to the person who beat Miyamoto in a game of StarFox 64 at E3.  It was also apparently handed out to a few employees of NOA because there are around 10-15 known to be floating around.

As for the base gold controller's value, I would say $20-25, highly dependent on condition.  Ebay sellers tend to think that they're worth a ton of money, but its not the case.  I've seen the Millennium 2000 controller (the Silver/Black one) go for well over $300, however.
