Nice, have fun on that spree!!

I just figured out that I would have had to have received $3428.56 for my High School graduation to have the same amount of buying power as your $1200.  Needless to say I didn't get anywhere near that much.  I would have just blow it on a bunch of new 2600 games anyway Wink

Yeah. I got about $600 for graduating high school in 2000. That's roughly $2200 in today's dollars, I guess Smiley

I took a road trip to Arizona with my money. It was a blast.

Wait I just found out that this is an 8th Grade Graduation!!!  I need to add 4 years to my adjusted money.  That makes it $4621.29 that I needed to receive.  And the bad news is I wouldn't have been able to spend it on Atari 2600 games (since they weren't out yet)  Perhaps a nice new PONG or a Magnavox Odyssey (the original of course not the O2)!!!

Here's the site I used for the calculation:

In all honesty, $600 in 2000 is worth $780 today. That's almost a 33% increase in less than 10 years! I think we may be heading for trouble...

I got a £70 watch, and that was only after I complained about my friends getting £200+ each.

hey, dont be grumbling.  All i got was $300 for my 8th grade graduation, well, technically.  I paid for half of my computer ($600).  And if i hadn't had gotten all As from 4th to 8th grade i probably wouldn't have gotten that.

Now the REALLY unfair part is that they act like they're deducting it out of my bithday money!  I graduated 8th grade not this past june, but the june before that.  I got my computer in November or so, where all the big deals are.  My birthday is in the first quarter of the year.  So what do they do?  they didnt give me a birthday present.  My dad sent a little something while he was away on business affairs (a pirated 132 in one NES collection on the GBA) which was only like $20.  That was it pretty much.  I asked my mom why she didnt get me anything (my dad was away while this was going on) and she said "You got a computer!" just like that.  Do you really think i busted my ass through 8th grade to have perfect grades?  I still have perfect grades today, with the exception of a B in Geometry (9th grade) but thats because its the highest level geometry (5) and its really hard ><
