Enact a Windfall Profits Tax to Provide a $1,000 Emergency Energy Rebate to American Families:Barack Obama and Joe Biden will enact a windfall profits tax on excessive oil company profits to give American families an immediate $1,000 emergency energy rebate to help families pay rising bills. This relief would be a down payment on the Obama-Biden long-term plan to provide middle-class families with at least $1,000 per year in permanent tax relief.

He intends to directly tax oil companies and give their money to the poor. First of all, this is socialism. Second of all, this provides no incentive for oil companies to produce as much, if this policy were to be enacted American companies would have no reason, no incentive, to produce more oil. This would lead to more foreign dependency and higher prices. That $1000 your family gets will be spent on higher gas prices.



Granted though, with prices at what they are now, Obama won't be able to enact this policy. His plan is to tax every barrel over $80, but if prices are under that like they are now then he can't say he's taking "windfall" profits from the "evil" oil companies, because in reality the Oil Companies are suffering like the rest of us in this economic period of unrest.

It will be a wild ride I'm sure. The sinking economy might just sink any of the plans Obama had for socializing the country. We can only hope.

Founded in 1959 in Hampton, IA.  Name came about in 1970.

The Kum & Go name, which was adopted during the 1970s, is a play on the phrase "come and go" using the initials of Krause and Gentle.
