It would be interesting to see if we survive the next ice age. We should, given that technology will be more advanced by then. Maybe to the point that we've developed interstellar travel and could find another planet to inhabit. But we're talking thousands of years.
We survived Ice Ages of the past so I don't see why we couldn't survive future ones.
Please not that an ice age isn't as dramatic as it sounds, the temperature drops maybe 10°C on average and around the equator you still get a nice 25°C / 77°F
Also, when we survived the last ice age, there no where near as many of us. Humanity will survive, but the population will need to shrink significantly.
Agreed. Now, back on topic: Gas Prices.
There will be a country wide spike starting today or tomorrow due to speculation that Hurricane Gustav will disrupt oil production. Last I heard, crude has jumped up about $5, so Get ready for $4 gas again (Here in Chicago, it's still $4 though
)

I pulled into the station to the only pump available and a worker comes running out saying that they are running out of gas and have to shut down. I tell her that I'm running on fumes and won't be able to make it home, so she reluctantly allows me to fill my tank. Keep in mind that this is a "nice" gas station in a "nice" part of town, so it doesn't have a large, towering sign with prices as those are apparently against zoning laws for the "nice" part of town. I didn't bother checking the price at the pump either, for some unknown reason. Anyways, I fill up and pull away. When I pass the station down the street I see that their price was $3.72. I just filled up for $3.42.
The person running the station must have made a mistake when programming the prices into the pumps/signs, and I guess they cant change the prices until the station is empty. There station was certainly not low on fuel, as the pumps were working about as fast as I've seen gas pumps work.

Gas was around $3.55 everywhere yesterday and this morning, the cheapest was $3.95. Now how can that
not
be price gouging?

Just heard on the news that parts of Kentucky have prices as high as $5.50 a gallon due to a state-mandated special blend of fuel that is apparently very hard to get right now. Sucks for them. Gas is still $3.99 on the Ohio side of the river.

How would you guys like it if one day, gas was at $4.059, and you woke up the next day, and it was $4.759. Now imagine that, in ALMOST ALL of Knoxville.
$5.159 is the highest price as reported today.

Ooh, your gas prices are starting to come closer to ours. Maybe one day you'll have to pay as much as we do
