We're getting 4-8 inches. So glad I'm not out in it.

This time last year I'd probably be sliding to my death behind a bunch of retards about now. Last year I got stuck behind some idiots stuck on a hill that started sliding back at me...Fucking people need to learn how to drive.

Top of my Christmas list too.  Although I may have sent my requests to the wrong address...

Yeah, I've been skirting around it. Alas Eddie and Dave aren't the ones dealing with the problems anymore so I can't harangue them in real life.

All I want for Christmas is to feel well enough to focus on making the site quick again. Haven't really recovered from being sick at the end of November, and have been falling asleep early when I get home. I can make a quick change to see how it impacts the site, but it would definitely be a bandaid until we can optimize the databases. The game database has been blown out of proportion with the amount of data in it, and we may need to consider splitting it out (OMG FOLKS - A REASON TO SPLIT OUT THE DIGITAL MEDIA).

I have a week off for the holidays, and my wife has to attend school within that time period, so I'll have a large amount of time that I should be able to dedicate. I'll work with Adam and see if we can arrange something to help split out the DBs in that time period.

These forums need major updating. Like new forums. I feel like this is something from 1999. Plus all the downtime.

Downtime was due to an attempt to optimize the database (again) and finding a new error. The forum was put into maintenance mode in order to prevent corruption of the databases while the optimization was taking place. The forum software is somewhat old, and we've been working on updating it, but it's a major undertaking due to extensive customizations and the site problems have pushed that effort back.

Incidentally, we're also under a DoS attack on our FTP server that we discovered, as well as the backup drive possibly failing again (which was the original load issue). There are a few other problems at hand that we're finding that are contributing to the extensive load.

Essentially - we're aware of the problems, but don't have enough manpower/time to throw at it.
