Heh. It's been semi-raining for 3 days here. There have been periods of dryness for 30 minutes to an hour, but nothing more than that.
Also: DOWN WITH TIME CHANGE!!
I like having the extra hour of daylight to do things. One lost hour of sleep is a minor inconvenience.

On Saturday afternoon dad took the dogs for a walk in the woods. When he got back to the carpark, someone had smashed the rear left light cluster and left the scene. It's a bit odd because there isn't a mark on the body. The Peugeot dealership was closed by the time he phoned them. So he called this morning and it's going to cost £197 for a whole new cluster, with the bulb mountings and all. I knew they would do something like that, say you can't buy the individual piece you actually want. They would have to order it in as well.
The excess on the insurance is £250 and a claim would push up the premiums for the next few years anyway.

Any chance on getting the lights somewhere else?
Maybe even installing them yourselves?

I've tried looking at other places but they would only be ordering direct from Peugeot anyway. The £197 is for parts only. You actually have to remove the whole light fitting to be able to change the bulbs, so they've designed them to be easy to remove. It's just a wing nut securing it on, and a few plastic clips holding it in place. I could easily do it myself, but it's bloody expensive for a lump of plastic that would barely cost £20 to manufacture.

Original parts are always rediculously expensive. You should try to find a non-original part which costs like 5x less.

So after market parts or junk yard.
Junk yard could still end up being cheaper.
Do they have junk yards over there? They probably call them something like bonnet & boot graves.
Took the time to look it up here is a list of junk yard terms:
""A wrecking yard, Auto Recycling yard, auto salvage yard, wrecker's yard or breakers yard, (sometimes also known as a junkyard or a scrapheap)""
So check out a car breaker in your area.

It's a fairly new car, so there aren't likely to be many in scrapyards. If there are, they'll just be metal cubes.

You may be surprised, around here at least they don't really have older cars in junkyards anymore. Generally what they do is, get a wrecked car, sit it on the lot until all the sellable parts are sold and then turn it into a cube. Most cars in a good working junkyard are under 5 years old.
You may get lucky and someone might have just smashed the front of their Peugeot last week and there's one sitting there with a perfect rear light cluster.
