I was going to go to a Mini car show today but no one else wanted to go with me, and a 220 mile round trip is a bit far on my own. So instead, I went to a friend's house to help him buy a network router.
When I got there I decided the problem with his adsl and phone line were at the ISP's end. No need for a router just yet, then.
So he decided while I was there I may as well fix some other things for him. His printer wasn't picking up the paper to print on. So I cleaned the roller by holding onto a J-cloth and letting the printer suck it in, still holding it.
I fixed a few very small problems with his PC, then we went for lunch. (He paid)
When we got back I was thinking of leaving but then he mentioned his iPod he asked for help with a few months ago. He dug it out from a drawer but couldn't find the USB cable at all. So off we went to get ripped off for a new one. I showed him how to rip CDs and sync his iPod with iTunes then I managed to get going home.
Before I left, he offered me £20 for helping him out, but I really don't like taking money for almost nothing so I declined.
It was good to meet up with him because I've not seen him since before Christmas. But I think I'd rather have been at the Mini show which I hear was a very good one.
