I've had the bright idea of installing Linux on our old computer. I told dad and he got really angry at me because he thought I meant his crappy old laptop. It's the PC I used to use before I got this one last year. I doubt he will ever be able to use it because it takes so much effort to do anything at all with it. He would get irate just turning it on.

Come to think of it, I have no idea why I'm installing Linux on it. Huh

They won't.

They will, after midnight.  Happens all the time around here.  Though, you have to be in a state where it's legal to be in a bar after you turn 18.  (i.e. this won't work in Indiana.)

Well after midnight, he'll be 21. They have to let him drink. I think he's saying he's going to try and drink for the entire night before, which they almost certainly would not allow.

On my way home from work yesterday, I went by a house with quite a large pile of trash on the curb, so I slowed down and took a look. I got out of truck and picked out a few light fixtures, a saw, small toolbox, some sheets of aluminum and stainless steel and few more odds and ends. Today, I went by again and picked up a old leather chair (will make a great chair for the ol' fire ring), two stackable filing cabinet drawers, some more light fixtures, and two new bottles of rubbing alcohol (circa 1996). What was really neat was the lights were wrapped in newspaper from December 27, 1974 and they were the classified ads. Some of the ads:
1966 Chevrolet II $250
1967 Mustang $575
1968 Chevelle SS $800
1969 Nova $37
1969 SS Nova $1,200
1969 Plymouth Fury $625
1963 Corvette $3,195
1963 Willys Jeep $550
1964 Dodge Dart $175
1965 Olds Cutlass $200

I've been on a four day "Back To Work" course since Thursday. It turned out to be more of a psychology class. It's mainly talking about motivation, turning negative thoughts into positive ones and breaking "the habit" of bad thoughts or whatever. This unqualified speaker/trainer has been more use than the last two years with the psychiatrist. The best bit of advice so far is.

  • No-one gives a shit.

This course has honestly been very interesting. Obviously it's not going into depth about the intricacies of human thought in four days but it's got me thinking.

(PS. I found out why I installed Linux on my old computer - I managed to use it as a media centre on the TV in the lounge. So now we can watch recorded TV and stuff from there)

But no-one gives a shit about that. Wink

How's the blackout, Florida? I experienced one of those first hand in 2003. Cut short my trip to Cedar Point.

I'm pissed.  Today we were watching a video in science, and the teacher was trying to figure  out that you needed the extension on to use the dvd player.  she was some old-bitch sub.  the weather channel was on and they were playing some jazz shit, and some weird kid started dancing. I had my camera but my friends borrowing my memory card so I didn't get a video.
