On the upside: Along with several other coworkers, I volunteered to meet the CEO of the grocery chain I work for later this week. I have a few ideas I hope to float by him when the big day comes...

Yeah that never works. They just shake your hand and smile blankly, they wouldn't hear a word you say.

It's a roundtable panel discussion being held at a high-end hotel, complete with breakfast. He cannot escape my wrath.

Speaking of which: time for me to escape to la-la-land.

Nighters.

Got to work and my PC doesn't want to work. Then a few hours later my month old cell phone dies. Great morning so far.

I thought the attempted optimization of tables is what crashed the site and lost 2 years of forum data before?

Hi Dave!
No, we don't have enough RAM to optimize the collection table. This is what happens after the server is completely rebooted.
In related news, we were down last night because I attempted to reboot the server and it failed because it was waiting on someone to press F1 due to a hard drive warning/failure.

My exams are done. *victory* Grin

In other news, I upgraded my mother's computer from XP to Windows 7. Boot time seems to be a bit longer than before, but overall responsiveness appears better in 7 than it did in XP.

Bet it was a bot.
Sadly, it was. I'd say 4 out of 5 new registrations are bots. Hence, why most of my RFG time is spent battling them.

It does, and its set to its strongest setting. We're also connected to StopForumSpam, so anyone on their list can't register. Those two things probably keep out a hundred bots every day, but a few still manage to slip through.
Just one of the costs of having such an awesome forum I guess.

So, silly question...what's a bot going to do once it's registered...tie up resources or something?  Sorry, IT ignoramus here...

if you're ever on the site really late at night you're more likely to see some of it before the mods catch it, some of it can be pretty hilarious.
