My new years sucked. Apparently alcohol makes me depressed and want nothing to do with anyone and I ended up going home at 2 am.

Don't feel bad, alcohol makes most people depressed. It is a depressant after all.

I hope things are better for you now.

It's a depressant, yes.  All that means is it slows down your reaction time and makes you tired.

If you are depressed when you drink, you are prolly depressed when you are sober.

My thoughts exactly. I get rather happy, if not a little violent when taken to extremes. Happy violent though, like I want to fight the midget in the other room for laughs (I'll stay on my knees!).

I'm a happy and generally nonviolent drunk.
I always thought that was strange.

I love mine. I have a 500GB that I use purely as a backup drive, and it does the job well.

I have the 500GB Home Edition.  It's a really nice drive.  Except that I can never get it to Safely Remove when I go to turn it off (even though nothing is accessing the drive), so I just pray that it's not writing data and unplug it from the computer, then wait for it to spin down before unplugging it from the power.

I'm just hoping it'll last a long time... the last 500GB external I got before this (a SimpleTech) failed after about a year, just about three weeks out of warranty.  I only barely managed to get most of my data off that sinking ship (which was hard, as I had to copy it in about 4GB increments or I'd get read errors) before it stopped working completely.  I ended up gutting the thing and now I have my own USB hard drive enclosure. Tongue

I pretty much have to depend on external storage past my internal hard drive because my computer craps itself whenever I add another internal hard drive.  It's weird.

Assuming the jumper settings are fine, it sounds like your overtaxing your power supply with the added HDD?

I've been using mine for close to 2 years now, and I haven't had a single issue. Although I know what you mean about the 'safely remove' issue - I have the same one. I don't even bother with trying anymore, I just unplug it.

Me too. I don't get depressed from alcohol at all. I get all gigglish and teenage girl-like when I drink. Then I become tired and fall asleep.

It's impossible for me to be mad/violent when I drink, which is of course a good thing. Smiley

The computer itself is fine with it, but the OSes I've tried don't like it.  Windows will no longer boot, Linux live CDs lock up.  In the BIOS, I've made sure that the drive with Windows on it is still in the first position, which it is, but it still doesn't like it.
So I've given up trying and just use my external.  It's kinda more convenient in the end since I can haul around my data if I need to.  Good for when I'm trying to send a big file to another computer on the network but the shared folders aren't working right.
