FF7...Emo characters, emo story, emo antagonist, lame appeals to emotion, most emoest thing that ever emoed.

You're so emo, and you don't even realize it. Go listen to Yellowcard and Dashboard while watching Garden State on mute.

Smiley

No way, he's not emo. Emo like weird underground music and obscure indie games, that kind of stuff.  Wink

You've apparantly never met real emo kids then. They have messy black hair with swooshy bangs and listen to horrible music like Fall Out Boy and Hawthorne Heights.

Saying they listen to weird underground music is an insult to music snobs like, well, me. Smiley

That was a joke for Tony because I know how much he hates FFVII. Wink Your right, I haven't met any real emo kids. Fortunately for me sexually confused, self-abusing, kids with bad haircuts don't cross my path. Maybe I'm just lucky and live in an area where such cultural deviants don't exist. Wink

You live in Canada. You live in an area where NO ONE crosses your path Wink

And I nominate Halo 2 for the same reasons Tony nominated FF7. Damn emo Master Chief is so emo.

I got my DS from the cold dead hands of a tourist who froze to death in a snowbank last summer, don't tell me I never have people cross my path!

I couldn't name the worst game ever, as that's as subjective to each person's taste as the best game. I can say that Indy 500 for the R-Zone sucks pretty badly though. Tongue

^This is getting out of hand. Can we lock this thread before it gets any dumber?

That made me laugh. Ripping on FFVII is OK but not Halo.  Roll Eyes

I'm not ripping on anything I haven't played (I.E. FF7)...and we all know Leon's hate for anything Microsoft. So for him to throw Halo 2 under the bus as his vote for "Worst Game Ever" (despite this "emo" tangent) is shortsighted (and getting us off-topic) to say the least.

So I figured suggesting the closure of this thread may be reasonable before it further degenerates into a fanboy love-hate thread like so many others already do on our site.

So is there a chance we can we legitimately get back on topic? I personally like knowing what games to avoid without having to decipher the sarcastic babble.

To get this thread back on track, I would have to say Circus Maximus. I cringe just thinking about that game.

Emo bashing aside, I guess my entry would be Illusion of Gaia for the SNES.

Boring story with little to no buildup, boring characters, boring weapons, boring spells. Just a long, boring game as a whole.

It's probably not the worst game ever. Clearly there are better choices for that title, but instead of rehashing the obvious candidates (ET, Eternal Warriors (Geneisis), Samurai Showdown (Genesis), Shaq Fu, etc) I just thought I would go with something against the grain.

Not as much so I don't think though. I mean when it comes to things we like about a game it really depends on personality this is true. But some games are really bad. I am surprised that people are brining up mainstream games, and unless they haven't played many games I would have to say they KNOW they have played far worse games.

Things that make a game bad are pretty much disliked by most. Lets say MK Trilogy for PS1. It's not the worst game, but would constantly freeze. Now no one is going to enjoy that part about the game unless they had serious issues. As it is actually about the worst game ever however people should really think about it before hand, the pros and cons rather than simply games they dislike because of personal taste in game style.

Shaq Fu sucked... I'm a big fighting game fan, and mastered  all the characters to make it threw with every one as I do to see all the ending as I always do. But it was pretty horrible.. not the worst game, but pretty damn bad.

As for Samurai Shodown however I actually liked it. It thought it was a pretty good port of a game from a much more powerful system. Sure the Mega-CD version really put it to shame, but the Mega-CD was a lot less limited and this was one of those rare title on Mega-CD that showed off it's actual superiority for stuff other than typical CD content.

I own this played it and hated it when i was younger.
I don't remember specifically which one it was but i think my favorite part of the game was the music that played when you were saving/loading.

Also don't diss Shag Fu!!!
It is a diamond in the rough! It's just in a bit rougher shape than most.... and still may actually be coal...

My vote for worst game ever would have to be War Gods on PS1. It's a 3D beat em up with little to no control over the characters. You can just about rag your way through the first couple of fights before you severley start getting your arsed kicked. The slow down and bad camera angles just add the shear crapness of this game.

I beat thru War Gods for N64.
I completely agree that it wasn't good in any respect.

Street Sk8er 2 for PS1 was pretty shitty.

As was Grind Session, Sony's first skateboarding game. But Grind Session had an amazing soundtrack so I'm almost willing to forgive it.

Or what about Earthworm Jim 3D? The game that pretty much destroyed any hope for a future EWJ game.

Actually, the worst game ever is this:

I freakin love Guts, but they screwed this game up BIG TIME.
