So, my mother has a friend, and she has a four year old son. He likes to play DDR. Disaster strikes. He drops one ps2, they buy another one, and he drops the next one. She calls me up, saying that she's gonna trash them, but she knows I like to tinker, so she gives 'em to me.

So I have these 2 "broken" Roll Eyes ps2s at my house, and my best friend comes to visit me after I had surgery. We open them up, and they both had the same problem. The disk tray had popped out slightly. Pop it back in, and bingo, 2 free ps2s! slick speechless

I am playing Gran Turismo 4 as we speak... Grin

Very nice now give one back.

I also got a free "broken" PS2. I hooked it up and turned it on after I blew it out with a can of air. Worked fine. So I sent it to my two nephews and niece.

Nice, I got one like that at a Garage Sale I stopped at.  I picked up some PS2 games the guy was selling and when I paid he mentioned that his system had died.  He ended up giving it to me.

Did you get it working?

Yeah, I cleaned it up a bit and haven't had an issue with it.  I can play PS2, PSX and DVDs on it without issue.

I picked up 2 ps2's for $10.00 a few weeks ago.  So far I got one working.  It read's blue discs, black discs, dvd's and standard games.  All it needed was the laser eye cleaned, no adjustment at all.  The other one I'm still trying to adjust it.

I had the same sort of problem with my PS2. It went from reading everything to nothing in one day.
I opened it up, adjusted the laser until it could read everything and closed it up again. Took only an hour Smiley

I still have the same PS2 that I bought about 5 or 6 years ago.

AND it has been used vigorously as a DVD player.
