I helped my mom's office move today, I got to throw stuff away. I parked my truck next to the dumpsters and if anything looked interesting/useful it went in the truck.
I started off pretty good, the first office I cleaned out was the tech guy's.  I got a Gateway 2000 Colorbook with AC adapter and a very nice leather carry case, a video capture card, some random wires, and a slideshow clicker with a really bright laser pointer.  There's also a couple laptop keyboards, I have no idea if they work though.  One is missing some keys but the other 2 look OK.
Most of the other offices only had normal office supplies, but at least I got my share of 3 ring binders for the next 5 years Roll Eyes  Then towards the end, I found a couple boxes of Ethernet and phone line cables, I'm hoping I can sell it off quick to make a few bucks.

Now, for the questions.  The laptop doesn't work.  I plug it in, but it beeps at me and the screen doesn't come on at all, just a few lights.  There is a HDD, and nothing else seems to be missing.  So I'm just curious if anyone knows what's wrong with it.

Also, the video capture card says Windows 95 on it, but the oldest computer (besides my Atari 130XE) has Windows 98, do you think it will work?  I don't want to drag out the computer if there's no chance in hell it will work.

The laptop sounds like it could be a problem with the RAM. If the memory doesn't work you won't get anything on the screen.

How old is it?

A sticker on the back says August 1995. So I'm guessing that was the purchase date.

Throw it in the trash.

My guess is the capture card will work in 98.
