I looked around and didn't see a thread for terrible deals that people see when they are hunting for games. I have seen an appauling number of awful deals lately, and sometimes you just need to get them off of your chest.

Like yesterday I stopped at a new pawn shop I found. They didn't have any pre-PS2/XBox games displayed, so I asked what they had and they showed me a small stack of 12 or so NES games. Not much, but a few decent titles. None of them were priced, so I picked out a few (Baseball Stars 2, Ghostbusters 2, Caveman Games, Contra, etc) and asked them to get prices for me. Most of them were in the $5-$8 range, other than Contra which they wanted $34 for! I have seen Contra go for some obsene prices, but never $34.

Some others I have seen recently:

Uncharted Waters: New Horizons (Genesis, loose) - $54.99
Romance of the Three Kingdoms III (Genesis, loose) - $47.99
Dragon Warrior VII (CIB, PS1) - $64.99

Who would actually pay these prices for games?

A record shop near me has $70 Xbox 360 games and my personal favorite: Metroid Prime Pinball used - $44.  Also a bunch of $15 PS1 sports games...

Goodwill sells Atari 2600s for $120 but thats their standard price for them I believe.

i see a lot of rip-offs that people try to pull on ebay for turbo duo games all the time a lot of them are from ebay user sofsec2000 and their ebay store software seconds.
they have forgotten worlds for $69.99 used when you can buy it from www.tzd.com NEW for $29.99. thats a rip off.
i dont see how some places even make any money when everyone else on ebay is selling theirs for cheaper.

There used to be a regular old guy at car boot sales who sold nothing but games. They were all priced at £4, whatever it was. Not an insanely high price but enough to annoy me. Like £4 for a loose Master System cartridge, but then £4 for complete Zeldas. I got a few things from him but I wasn't too happy about it. Every time I asked if he would do a deal he said he was selling them for someone else. My arse! He was buying them cheap from other people and selling them on.

There's an indie shop on Ghetto Street that does just used games, DVDs and CDs. His CDs and DVDs are well priced at about £2.50-3 each. He makes prices up on the spot, though. So sometimes his prices are high and sometimes they're silly. Although, I've had some bargains there. And he's a good place to get rid of cheap Mega Drive doubles because he gives £2 for any of them.

I have always had good luck at Goodwill. The last time I was there, I got MINT  CIB copies of Super Star Wars and Super Empire Strikes Back for SNES for $0.99 each, and Mechwarrior 2020 MINT CIB for $1.99.

Goodwills around her suck ass.
It's amazing what a simple typo can lead a person to think.
If you'll excuse me, I'm gonna, like, wash out my brain or something.
