I know that the Wii version of this game gets all the hype due to its popularity at the moment, but has anyone tried the Gamecube version?

Thoughts?

My friend has it and he's told me that Link is left handed in the GC version, and that the controls are more or less like Wind Waker. It's the same game, but with no gestures or pointer style aiming.

I had it didn't play it traded it in for more than i purchased it.

We have one copy at work now. We randomly got 2 last week. I gave the heads up to a friend of mine who grabbed the other copy.

BTW this only shipped 40% of what it was intended to. I am surprised the demand for the Cube version died so quickly

I'm not surprised. I think a lot of people gave up on the GameCube once they heard they could get Zelda on the Wii. Maybe I should pick it up. Might be a harder one to find down the road.

Everywhere around here has dozens of copies, dime a dozen for that game now.

Not only is Link properly left handed, but the entire world is (not) mirrored in the GC version.  Since the map of Hyrule was kinda modeled after the one from Ocarina of Time, the Wii Zelda map might seem a bit backwards to those who have played the old game.  The purists might wanna play the GameCube version of the game, but the hardcore will probably do both of them.  Otherwise, the graphics are hardly better on the Wii version, as the game was originally developed for the GameCube.  The wiggle 'n' shake controlls were just tacked on.  I can't wait for a real Wii Zelda game to come out in the future.

As I recall, I remember that Nintendo was considering doing an update for Twilight Princess sometime before the end of 2007.  It would be delivered via WiiConnect24.  It sounded like an extra level or mission or something.  I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

I personally havent played the Gamecube version but do have it on the Wii, I think its not that great really the lack of speech seams strange and the wiggle/shake thing for fighting is rubbish and feels very random.
On the other hand being able to point the bow at the screen is far better than using the normal type pad, I think it will all be made alot better when they do a dedicated Wii Zelda other than that Twilight Princess is a good GameCube game.
Saying that i like the flat 2D Zelda games more

There wasn't speech in any other Zelda games.

I think he's referring to the fact that all modern rpg's use voicework now, so it's strange to play a somewhat photo-realistic modern game with no speech, just a few grunts and hails that remotely sound like words.
