He is currently not in the industry, but is simply an electronics wizard.  The past several years he's been making portables of various game consoles, and has directed some independent films on the side.  He has written a how-to book on making game portables titled Hacking Video Game Consoles which covers all the details for making a quality portable of a few different "classic" game consoles.  His talents have earned him notoriety on gaming and electronics news websites, magazines, and television shows.

Yeah, he beat Sony with his PSp.  He made the PSone into a portable long before the real PSP came out.  He also made a rather hefty PS2p from the slim PS2 before the real PSP was released also.

The hardest thing about this seems to be the housing.  The rest is just combining off the shelf parts. 
This would take a long time to make, but wouldn't require a very high knowledge of electrical components. 

The 360 laptop looked better executed, but this is none the less cool.
