That's kind of funny, Okami isn't the best PS2 game of 2006 but damnit, it's the best game of the year overall.

Also, it has the overall best story but don't forget about Suikoden V which has the best story for a PS2 game.

I have not played Okami, but there's no way it's better than Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.

Let's discuss when 2 of IGN's biggest assets combine into 1 big mess:

Okami: The Movie!

Having not played the game I couldn't speak as to whether Danny Devito and Elijah Wood belong in a movie like this but it still seems such a stretch and another way IGN looks bad, Then again just about any game made into a movie is bad and hopefully Uwe Boll isn't a IGN reader.  Tongue

I haven't played Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion for more than 10 minutes but there is no way it is better than Okami Tongue It's not my type of game.

Honestly though, Okami really is a fantastic experience. It is a breath of fresh air, artistically beautiful, amazing cast of characters and world, it is quite stunning. However, I'd probably give GotY to Final Fantasy XII but that's just me.

YES! I'm so happy Okami is getting a little recognition. It's one of the greatest adventure games of all-time, and one of the best PS2 games. It's amazing that IGN gave it game of the year instead of the usual overhyped candidates like Gears Of War, FF12, Zelda (very great game, but not as good as everyone says), Oblivion, etc. I like to see the underdog games win once in a while.

It's cool an underdog won, but it isn't cool that it is inconsistent with what won the best PS2 game according to them.
