Famicom Disk System Loading Problems...

I finally got one of these on eBay
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eB...1878448&rd=1&rd=1
, only to find out that when it arrived, it didn't power up.
I opened up the casing to find that it was odviously tampered with as two black power wires weren't even hooked up to the power source, the drive itself wasn't even plugged into the harness, and it was missing two screws... hooked the power up, and plugged in the drive, only to find out that the disk drive still won't come on, so I take everything apart, and clean it, then put it all back together, and still no luck.
The belt seems to be fine. It turns the gears like it's supposed to. The disk drive just won't function.
I've never owned one of these, so I don't know too much about them, and the info on the internet about repairing an FDS is scarce. Has anyone here ever worked on one of these before, and can help me get this thing functional again, or maybe point me in the right direction?

He hasn't replied yet, but since the auction was "as Is", I doubt it. I'm just going to put this one on eBay this weekend, and buy another I guess... and of course I will state that it's a NON working console.
Hopefully I can atleast get $20 for it, to take some of the pain away from having to buy another.
I still got the box fot it, A boxed FDS AC Adapter, 2 FDS Ram Adapters, an AV Famicom, and 38 FDS games, so I still didn't come out too bad.

Thats pretty shitty of the seller. I bet the seller knew it was messed up. I never ever buy a system that says "AS IS". To me that says it is broken.

Yeah, but it works both ways...
I was selling Sega Genesis's on eBay a while back, and would take returns on them if they didn't work. I took them all apart, and cleaned them, and tested them before shipping them out. I had a buyer who said he got one that wouldn't power up, so I told him to send me the defective one, and I'd send him out another... bout a week later I get the defective Genesis, and to my surprise it doesn't work. I knew I had tested it before I sent it, so I took the casing apart, to find out this was NOT the one I had sent him. Screws were missing, alot of the wires inside had been pulled from the sauder, and the inside was dirty, so I messaged the buyer, and told him that this was odviously not the same one I shipped him, and his reply was somewhere along the lines of "You're full of shit. Send me another, or I'll leave you a negative feedback." I decided to send him another, and never take another return again.
This seller HAD to know this thing was messed up. There is NOWAY this console worked after it had been opened up, so he most likely knew when he sent it that it didn't work. I'm betting that this person bought a new replacement belt, and didn't know what he was doing when he tried to install it, as the belt inside looks practically new for being over 20 years old. ... he still hasn't replied to my E-Mail.

Wow, what an asshole. I can't believe that some people have so little conscience that they can just do that.

It looks like you were taken. If all the games work fine, I'd say he was the one taken on the other hand as that's still not a bad price for all the games you got. I must admit, I cant wait to see the scans of everything though. Actualy, if the Super Mario Bros works, I think you just got one hell of a deal as I'm finding that game on some import sites fetching not much less then what you paid. Have you tested out the Famicom itself yet?

Working retail, I see all kinds of scams that border on theft, to outright theft. Once you've had your first meth head try to deny stealing beer WHILE you WATCH him stuff beer in his pockets, you will come to see how ugly it can be.

Yeah, luckily the AV Famicom works, and after I cleaned it up, it looks practically new. I didn't come out too bad, as over half of the games are on official Nintendo disks, but alot of them just have generic labels with writing on them, plus AV Famicoms fetch quite alot of money...
I got this in the mail today...
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eB...3164061&rd=1&rd=1
... plugged in the Disk system, and it doesn't work either. Everything seems to be working fine, but it gets stuck on the loading screen, so I'm going to try and use parts from both, and hope I can atleast get one working, then I'm going to try and work on the original Famicom, and see if it's fixable. I can't believe the shitty luck I've had trying to get a working Disk System. After I'm done trying to fix these things, I'll post some pics of all of this shit.

If you cant get that to work, and you ever decide to buy another (i wouldnt blame you if you decided not to) then use this link.
http://www.japangamestock...h=67&products_id=6636
I tend not to have problems getting stuff from them in working condition. I've never ordered any systems from them before and the EMS shiping is on the expensive side, but at the very least you can consider it your last ditch effort to save a sinking ship.
BTW, you realy have had the worst luck I have ever seen. If you can get that second famicom working, consider me interested.

I am now the proud owner of a WORKING Famicom Disk System!!1
Finally got this thing working today, I had to do alot of tuning, and testing, but finally got it up and running.
I can't figure out what's wrong with the original Famicom. I think someone might have plugged an NES AC Adapter into it, and fried it. I'm probably just going to keep it, until I find a working one at a good price, then sell it off for parts or something. It's still cool to have, and I really don't need it to work anyway, as I would never be using it.
Here's some pics of all of this shit...

All of the disk in the back are legit Famicom Disks, and the ones in the front are various bootlegs sorted by color.

It's a pretty sweet system so far. I've been playing the hell out of Castlevania II, Zelda, and the original Super Mario Bros. 2.
