My fiance and I are looking to add another member to our family but we are having a hard time choosing. So I thought I would see what everyone else prefers of the three.

Never had a Chinchilla.  But I will swear up and down that rats are better pets than Guinea Pigs and Rabbit.  They are smarter, trainable, and way more affectionate than either of them.

Also they are cleaner.

I enjoy the smaller animals too. We currently have a Roborovski hamster and we are looking to get something bigger.

Hamsters, gerbals and mice aren't good pets IMHO.  I've had them all to. Tongue

I've had hamsters, rabbits, gerbils, and rats when I was younger.  And my favorite, by far, was the rat.  He was big enough that you could let him out of the cage and he didn't get lost too easy, gerbils and hamsters always got lost under the couch.
I've known a lot of people with guinea pigs, and they are very noisy and I never found them to be any fun.  Rabbits and guinea pigs are very similar, but rabbits are a lot quieter.
I've never had a Chinchilla, but they do require a dust bath which can cause a mess around the cage.

Rabbit tastes good. So when you're done with it you've got a free meal.

We used to have a guinea pig and a rabbit. Both male... the rabbit was gay. We couldn't hold the guinea pig because it pissed and cacked everywhere it went. For those reasons, I don't like rabbits or guineau pigs.
