What TraderJake has failed to mention is the brother whom broke his strap actually decided to twist the strap and proceeded to throw it when he lost.

How in unholy Hell are these things breaking? Are people using them to pull trucks?

I think Nintendo is loving this. It doesn't look very bad on their part because it's mostly the user's fault. So it's mainly just free publicity for them.

Apparently my brother actively tried to break his strap. It worked. I'm guessing he isn't the only one who actively broke the strap.

I got my 4 replacement straps yesterday in the mail in fact.  They look just the same but have a little bit thicker string attaching them to the Wiimote.
