Talk about crazy. What does this mean for Sony?

Hah. PS3 isn't gonna get Dragon Quest. LO-freaking-L.
I'll confess now, I've, um... I've never actually played a Dragon Quest game. But I want to. Tongue

over here, not much

in japan, it looks like squenix is hedging their bets, they are no longer putting all of their main franchises in one basket

for dq, i think its a good move, modern consoles are more about realism while dq is a cartoon-inspired series, and the ds can do cartoons.  we also saw what square can do with the DS on final fantasy III

I dont know about anyone else, but damned if I'm not glad I got a DS now.  Sure, the news is more impresive for the Japanese market then in the states (still aint got 5 and 6 as well as a slew of re-makes and spin offs) but it does mean something for Sony in general.  With Final Fantasy XIII being spread over multiple systems and now Dragon Quest not even being on a Sony system, it should atleast say something for the future they have.  Even so, it's not as if this is EA saying they've gone Wii exclusive.  RPGs make up a much higher percentage of sales in Japan, not in the US.  The US in turn makes up a much larger percentage of game sales then Japan as well so this sounds great, but doubtfully will be THAT much for the short term.
