ebay, should I sell?
«

I'm contemplating whether or not to start selling on ebay. I'm planning to move in the next year or so and my wife and I have lots of stuff I could really get rid of. nothing high ticket, action figures, hot wheels, comic books, precious moments, Avon collectables, kids clothes & toys, that sort of thing.
is it worth the effort? or will I be spending lots of time for little return? I'll probably sell a few things to try it out but I figured I'd solicite some opinions here. I know some of you guys sell.
so whaddya think?

I have sold over 2000 items on eBay.
On the whole its worth it. Somethings I don't bother selling on eBay, somethings I sell all the time.

If you want to sell stuff, ebay is the way to go. It might be a bit more hassle than a garage sale, but you're bound to get more for it. If you're in doubt, just start with a few items to test it.
I would wait till autum starts though. Summer is always a slow time on ebay.

Try ebay and whatever you dont sell have a tag sale and get rid of some more. Start with ebay though. I think it is less of a hassle but thats becausethere is no setting up, cleaning up and worrying about the waether.

Get a good supply of free packing material. Easier than you think, so many companies throw it away.
I have sourced free bubble wrap, and cardboard boxes, I also shop around to find the cheapest padded envelopes. I then charge people a fair price for p&p based on what I would pay to get the packing materials retail.
This way, I am still usually cheaper for post and packing than many rival sellers, without riipping people off with silly prices, and at the same time covering my ebay fees becuase my materials are usually free.

If you go to local package stores they usually just through out the boxes anyways so they will give them to you(at least they do here). You can get alot of the packing stuff cheap if you look around. I save all the bubble wrap and static proof bags i get from everything.
