Believe it or not, most of the Disney and Warner Bros. toons have already been chopped to hell. There are a few Disney movies that have been edited and we'll not likely see the full versions of...Make Mine Music and Fun and Fancy Free are two I can think of right off the top of my head...both have smoking scenes in them, one with Goofy as a cowboy puffin' away.
The Tom & Jerry toons you see on Cartoon Network, Boomerang, and any Turner station are already edited for "excessive violence" (they're toons people!) and racial stereotypes (some you wouldn't believe). You'd be suprised how many time Jerry pulls a gun on poor Tom (and funny as hell)...all cut out of what we're already watching.
Most of the older toons aren't worth watching because they're so hacked up. Just watch any, and I mean ANY Bugs Bunny, or better yet, Road Runner cartoon on Cartoon Network, Boomerange or a Turner station. These toons have been hacked and very poorly edited, skipping from scene to scene.
But, at least WB sells their toons as unedited (supposedly) in their Golden Age of Toons (or whatever it's called) DVDs. You can't say that for Disney or MGM.
There are plenty of places on the web, like YouTube, Veoh, and other places to watch public domain cartoons...no copyrights and no edits. Best Buy has plenty of these PD toons in large collections and very, very cheap. These are really old black and white toons, like Betty Boop, Harvey Cartoons, and tons of Popeye.
I hate all this PC crap...
