I ended up getting 9 achievements in Viva Pinata yesterday.
Today I got my slim PSTwo to work properly. It was making an awful grinding noise as the laser was pushing up against the centre spindle but it wouldn't stop going. It's nearly a year out of Gamestation's 1 year warranty for used consoles and it was on its way out, so I decided to break the warranty sticker. I looked up how to fix it and someone mentioned the ribbon cable. I took the laser module out and inspected the cables which seemed fine. While I was putting it back together I was deciding if I should buy a new laser or cable. In the end I tried it before putting the case back together and it didn't grind up against the centre bit.
So now it's all back together and working fine. I suppose the cable must have just come a bit loose.

Edit (23/7): I played the Blue Dragon demo. What the hell is up with the Poo Snakes? I didn't like the game because I'm not into RPGs anyway.
I've been playing more Viva Pinata today, mainly trying to get 100,000 chocolate coins. I'm up to 84,000 just by doing the Tulip thing - buy a few seeds, fertilise them, hack the flowers then sell the flower heads and plant the seeds.
I did the composite mod on my PS1 screen last night. It works fine, except I can't get my PC's TV Output to work.
