Started RE4 Wii Edition last night.
Played about 1.5-2 hours.
My biggest problem with it is controls. But i was able to get use to them more or less pretty quick. Not having dual analog control of a character or being able to strafe just throws me off.
I really can't find any reason to like that game. God knows I've tried.
Specifically the Wii edition or RE4 in general?
Anyways played some more of it.
Found out there are like 5 treasures i can't get because i'm not allowed to backtrack
Should just got thm the first time thru :-/
Oh well i don't think they had any purpose other than adding extra funds.
Also the merchant is more or less useless for me anyways.
The only things i have bought thus far was a rifle and scope(maybe just the scope?) and weapon upgrades.
I am constantly selling shit to him though and i don't think i can upgrade my Punisher or Shotty anymore.
RE 4 in general. I first hated the fact they weren't just zombies, then there began an escort mission, and then I threw the game out the window.
I played some GTA IV on PC, absolute shit optimization. Rockstar DOES NOT ALLOW YOU TO CHANGE VIDEO SETTINGS past a certain point that their awful software chooses. I have an overclocked 8600GTS with 256mb GDDR3 SDRAM that outruns the 8600 with 512mb of shitty ram. Rockstar's program only allows customization for a 256mb card, SO I CAN'T CRANK SETTINGS IF I WANT TO.
There are likewise texture issues--not sure what those are about, you can't use a gamepad, the SECUROM they spent 200,000 dollars of their 300,000 dollar port budget (which has already been cracked) is an annoying mess that causes fatal errors to a large portion of its playbase.
It's awful, unforgivable, and I will not be buying this game even if they do fix it.

I saw the PC version of GTA4 in stores yesterday priced €42.50. I thought about it for a second but then I remembered you saying something about the port being bad so I didn't get it.
A good decision.

^Another reason to stick with consoles instead of dealing with all of the techno-crap that comes with high-end PC gaming.

Certainly shouldn't be. It all stems from Rockstar being so concerned with SecuROM bullshit that they don't release a beta or playtest it on normal computers. There's no excuse for selling such a shitfest to the public, sure it'll be patched in time, but they already lost me. I'm going to buy Saints Row II when it comes out instead.

Just finished Resident Evil Code Veronica X yesterday. Over the last month I finished RE Zero, RE, RE 2, RE 3 and now RE CVX.
I think i might play through Outbreak again and see if I can track down Outbreak File 2 and maybe Dead Aim and Survivor.
Does anyone know if RE Gaiden is any good??
Oh and I suppose I should give 4 another chance. (Barf)

In my opinion its not a RE game. No zombies, No Umbrella, No Resident Evil. Im not against the new style and direction (even though I love the old style and would stick to it). I can understand many people looking for a drastic change to the series. My issue is that is has nothing to do with the RE universe. I think they should have just made a new IP out of RE 4 and not put the RE name on it. It should have been called the adventures of Leon or something like that instead. If RE 5 uses the RE 4 style of game, but has an actual RE storyline Ill be more than happy.

Can't you just play it and accept it for what it is? A good game that happens to be named poorly?

I could if it was in a genre I enjoyed, or at least had a compelling story. I dont generally play action games and the only reason this one is on my radar is because im a RE fan. It just bugs me for completion sake I guess, not that its a bad/good game.

Played some more RE4.
It's really not that bad. Even with it being escort(which nearly made me shut the game off never to return) for the most part i hardly have to bother with her.
Yea i have to agree was kind of a let down that Umbrella/Zombies weren't in it and since i haven't been a steady RE player i was somewhat confused at first.
