Everyone always mentions the big names when they're on about the best coin-op games; Pac-Man, Space Invaders, Galaga and so on.  However it's always nice when you remember playing an Arcade that was somewhat an undiscovered gem, or just something you don't hear everyone going on about every 5 minutes.  This thread is for those gems, let's hear them!

All Points Bulletin
Black Tiger
Bosconian
Burnin' Rubber
Butasan (Japanese original Arcade version of 'Psycho Pigs UXB')
Cadillacs & Dinosaurs (I remember pumping many 10ps into one of these in Ireland one holiday).
Die Hard Arcade
Escape From The Planet Of The Robot Monsters (think isometric Gauntlet in the future)
Penguin-Kun Wars
Super Dodge Ball
Super Puzzle Fighter 2 Turbo
Timber
Time Pilot

I used to love Burnin Rubber.

I was too young to be in the arcades, but the bigger kids were alright with me, and used to help me by hitting the jump button as the game got tougher Smiley

Carnevil for crying out loud?
I remember older kids being assholes until you kicked the crap out of them using Chun Li..
Man, I miss that musky smelling arcade enviroment, full of people from all walks of like. Nerds and non nerds coexisting in a way.

Ah, I'll add Golden Axe: Return or Revenge of Death Adder to that list, the name escapes me and I'm too tired to look it up. (It had an elf with a pitch fork if that rings any bells, and a giant with a dwarf on his back.)

damn that helicopter game... i think it was sega and on the fancier models there was a chair and a flight stick and the chair would move when you moved the stick (i think).

I used to like that. Smiley

Yeah. Carnival by Sega.I've got that on Atari 2600. The one freak_Boy was talking about was a Midway Light Gun game I believe.
ThunderBlade was great. Anyone ever play ThunderBlade NY? You were flown around in the helicopter instead of actually flying, and it had a light gun which of course was this great big machine gun that recoiled. I would give up a testicle for that arcade game.

uuhh.... Time Crisis, and Area 51 are the only games I ever played at the Arcade, since they are half of all the interesting arcade machines within 100 miles.

sadness.

Didnt have many good arcades around when you growing up 2D?
I had one in the town I lived in that was pretty good until a few years ago, they got shut down because the owner was selling drugs out of his office. Then on rare occasions, there was a cool one in Bloomington which isnt far, and one in Kentucky I got to go to at least once a year inside the River Falls Mall. This arcade was an entire floor of the mall, literally thousands of games.
