I must say that I have never heard of the RCA Selectavision CED Videodisc player before Den68 explained what it was here. Den68 made it sound so interesting I kept my eyes open for one.

(the Short story) Went to my favorite thrift store in Pittsburgh. Picked up a working CED player and 471 movies for $100.

(the Long story) I didn't plan on spending more then ten dollars for the next couple of weeks because I trying to save some money and build my own Projector. (like these pictures 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9) But I happen to see about 10 CED movies at my favorite thrift store, they had been marked $3.00 each. So I picked one up and asked an employee if they had and CED players. She just gave me that I don't know anything look, but the man on the phone behind her said "we have two downstairs and I know one works". so he then hooked one up to a TV in the storage room. It worked great. He then said $20 for it and  he also had about 400 other movies I could buy $1.00 each. so I went to look at them. Another manager or owner walked over and said I will sell you the player and all of these movies for $100.  So I bought them. The weight of them lowered the back of our Pontiac Montana mini-van about 3". After my kids went to bed the wife and I went through them. I copied and pasted a list of all the US CED movies. I printed the list and my wife checked off the ones I got. I picked up 471 different movies and a few doubles if anyone is interested. The doubles include Airplane, Fiddler on the Roof, Heaven Can Wait, Planet of the Apes, The Sound of Music, and The Ten Commandments.

Here are a few pictures from my crappy camera. Pictures 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8.

Yeah, but your game library dwarfs mine by well over 3,400! drool

I'm enjoying it. I've watched "Angels With Dirty Faces" and "History of the World part I" so far. It is similar to VHS quality and I like it. Smiley I also like the fact that I got a good starter collection. Now I have more CED movies then I do video games.
Here is a list my movies --> A - F, F - O, O - T, T - Z

Nice score, but I stared to wonder, how long it would take to watch all those movies? ^^
(I think that 471 x ~60 hours = 28260, 28260 / 24 = 1177,5 days...)

Love, Ackman.

Good thing for me these movies only take about two hours each.
(471 x ~2 hours = 942, 942/ 24 = 39 and a half days) Wink

I got 13 more movies today. Nothing too special but I now have 484 CED movies. My goal is to have 500 by January.
