Few franchises, if any, rivial the Zelda Universe. Iteration after iteration inspires awe within the players.
A Link to the Past
is no different. From its sprawling overworld and dungeons to awe inspiring game play, this game is not one to be missed.

As far as I'm concerned this is the best Zelda out there, although I must admit I haven't played the latest ones. The first Zelda on Game Boy, Link's Awakening, was also a great game, but the SNES game was just perfect at the time. I'm not going to say that every gamer needs to have played this game at least once, because times change and people age...but at the time of its release it was definitely one of the best adventure/rpg games for teens.

absolutely the best Zelda game out there IMO, the aquisition of items constantly changes how you explore the map and the music is fantastic. it is the game i compare every other Zelda to and for me personally it has a timeless quality about it, truely a system-defining game.
anyone who has beaten Minish Cap should embrace this game as Minish Cap borrows alot of gameplay ideas, on the other hand the GBA version of LTTP with the added sound effects seems to take away a bit of the charm the original LTTP has, but regardless still one of the best GBA games out there years after it's debut.

Simply put, this is Zelda how is was meant to be. Some of the best dungeons I can remember and a whopping 11 full dungeons make this the longest zelda title in existence. The sound effects and music are unforgettable and excellent for such an early SNES title. Any Zelda fan who hasn't played this game
needs
to add this to their gaming resume, as it is the defining game of the Zelda franchise. 10 out of 10, 5 out of 5, 3.141596 out of Pi, or whatever other rating schemes there may be, this is as close as a game of its genre and time can get to perfect.

3.141596 out of Pi
Shouldn't that be Pi out of Pi, cause otherwise it's not a perfect score.
Anyway, when IGN came out with its top 100 games. This game was ranked 11th on that list. The only SNES title they ranked better was Super Metroid at 10th. Quite the spot to be in!

I unfortunately have only played a few hours of this and it was amazing...but I rented it...heh. So I went to Toys R Us back in 1995 to pick up a copy and that was when they were clearing out Virtual Boys for $30. I couldn't pass up the deal and didn't get Zelda SNES. I still don't have it to this day...I need to get it. I played through approx. 50-75% of Ocarina of Time on the N64 though. And maybe 25% of Link's Awakening on the GB. Oh and like 5-10% of Majora's Mask. That's my only gripe with Zelda games...they are sooooo long and people like me with short attention spans for their games tend not to finish them. although I did finish FF7 and 9...

This is my favorite Zelda. I loved the exploring, the items and weapons, the music, just about everything.
One sunny day in the late 90's (I believe I was a junior in high school at this time), I rode my bike up the I-205 bike trail in Portland to Mall 205 to buy a used copy at the (now closed) Game Trader store. It set me back $14.99 and it was worth every penny.
I own two copies of the game now: the SNES cart (the same one I got at the Game Trader), and the GBA re-release. I'm currently playing through the game for a third time via the GBA version.

This may be my favorite Zelda. I had loads of fun playing it as a kid and I still play it to this day.

I have to agree, the best Zelda game to yet be released. I still pop it in from time to time.

like most snes versions of great nes games, there is an awful lot of polish, but the open endedness of the original was sacrificed, and a lot of the exploring and challenge along with it.

Yes, I love this game so much. By the way, who out there has beat this game with a score of 000. I've done it twice, once back in the day and more recently in college.
