mortal kombat help!

this weekend there is a huge rummage sale in my town, and i went there today and got mortal kombat I for the SNES. i bought it and c few other games and some movies and went home. after the long walk in 105 degree heat back to my house i walked inside and put the games on the counter and ran to get my NES and SNES. when i was up there, my mom started looking at the games out of curiosity. when i came down she asked why i got mortal kombat and i said because i liked the game. she said the game was violent (!). i told her that the game wasnt and said there was no blood. shewouldnt even let me put it in my SNES to show her that it was no worse than SF2, but she wouldnt let me. i told my dad to help out but i dont think he will. she took it away and says she not giving it back until im 18!. what should i do? she did the same thing with D&D when i was 12 but i eventually convinced her to let me play, but she said there is no way i kan konvince her with this.

Your parents sound a tiny bit insane to be taking Super NES Mortal Kombat away from you.
Print out the box scan of the game it should be Mature 13 or Teen 13.
I don't have the SNES version but i know that Genesis version with blood was ages 13+
Or get something off the web that talks about how the game had no blood. Or find an old Nintendo Power or other magazine.
Or tell them that the game is 13 fucking years old and if they are worried about your mind being so impressionable as to be molded to evil by a game of such quality you should not be watching much of what is on television anymore either.
Power Rangers is just as violent for christs sake.

thank you for the idea , izret, it was the finishing touch on the paper i written about MK, showing it wasnt bad. also, izret, you will be a good (if not already) parent some day. we were just talking about this at the table, and i brought up dungeons and dragons. my grandma said i shouldnt be playing it. i got yelled at for screaming across the table
" WELL ITS NOTS THE GAMES FAULT, ITS THE PARENTS FAULT. THE DAMN PARENTS DONT PAY ATTENTION TO THE KIDS FOR 16 YEARS, AND THEN WHEN THEY ARE DRINKIN AND SMOKIN POT AND SHOOTIN UP SCHOOLS 16 YEARS LATER, ITS NOT THE PARENTS FAULT, ITS DUNGEONS AND DRAGONS AND MORTAL KOMBAT"
and yes, when i was 7, my mom wouldnt let me watch power rangers, and i am not kidding.

Wow, my parents didn't care, as long as I difernated fiction from reality.
I could watch or play whatever, as long as I didn't emulate it, or if it was interfering with my studies or what not.
Just find the game from what she hid it and take it, she'll prolly forget after a week or two.
True story: Around 1994 when I had just gotten my gameboy the christmas prior (well around there) my mom had me get something off her dresser, I think a comb or something, and she was stupid enough to leave a gameboy game there that was ment to be a birthday present. She forgot about buying the game and hiding it.

i printed out a box scan and written why it wasnt bad. my mom wouldnt even look at it, and said: you know what i think about mortal kombat? and she ripped it up. my younger brother started crying up stairs, so my parents went up there. my dad told my mom that he thought mortal kombat and almost any other video game wasnt bad, and my mom just got pissed and through the cartridge at me. it sucks because when she gets home from work she will probly take it back. i say this because i was going to stay up all night and watch the simpsons but i then had to go to bed, and i just left it on the floor. this morning i wake up, the first thing i did was look for the game. it wasnt by or under the couch, but it was on the dinner table. i have a feeling im not getting it back...
.
my grandma after i posted last night started talking about a movie about a kid who played dungeons and dragons excessively and "became part of the game" i have no idea what she meant by that but it pissed me off. anyone that knows the name of the movie gets a cookie.
EDIT: 50th post

Ok, now she came home from work. i figured i wouldnt say anything, and since it was on the table she would bring it up. she pulled me in to the computer room to talk to me, gave me this little speech about how she destroyed my opinion by tearing up my paper, and then said that i still couldnt play cuz it got her and my dad in to a fight.
. i figured i would just annoy her about it later, but then the phone rang. it was my grandma, and she sounded kind of glum. i handed the phone to my mom, by the time she was off the phone she was crying. my great grandma is dying now i cant ask her, but really want the game and i am
NOT
, i repeat
NOT
stealing it back.what the hell, hey?

My mom's done somewhat similar things, just don't bring up MK, play other violent games they haven't heard about on the news, be a good kid, do what they ask you when they ask you, and sublimily show them that you aren't a murderous crackwhore.
Eventually you can work your way to freedom.

BLOODRAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I can feel it building.
Here's a cool story for you. I had a good friend who's parents were really crazy about keeping him away from violent video games and such. They actually sound A LOT like ganonbanned's description of his parents. He wasn't supposed to watch Power Rangers either, back in the day (which was a Tuesday). Mortal Kombat was out of the question. Hell, Street Fighter was on the edge.
Where is my friend now, years later? Well, he started smoking crack a while ago. Then he did some time under house-arrest for assault charges, and another stint for obstruction. Last I saw him he was popping X and huffing some shit, because he thought it would be his last night on the "outside".
It's all my fault too. One time, I rented Mortal Kombat and we played it while his mom was gone. I'm sure that's what messed him up.

The movie is called Mazes and Monsters. It stars Tom Hanks. Do you have chocolate chip?
Also, for the record, the whole thing about D&D being connected to satanic cults or the occult is pretty much an urban legend and nothing more. It's a creation of yellow journalism. Newscasters invented this fluff when there wasn't a war going on to garner ratings. The only thing hazardous about D&D is that women will probably stop talking to you (not always a bad thing).

No, not really. But it is someone we both know. Undoubtedly, the person you think it is.

and speaking of dungeons and dragons history, my uncle (on the other side of the family) is good friends with gary gygax. dungeons and dragons (as you may know) was started in wisconsin in the 70's. right around the time it started, my uncle, who was 15 at the time and had knew idea what the game was, went to a hobby shop. gary gygax happened to be there, and he ended up teaching my uncle how to play dungeons and dragons. he played it with him alot to. im not kidding becuz my uncle stopped playing around 15 years ago, and i didnt know any of this until last january when he broke up with his girlfriend. he found it in her attic when cleaning his stuff out. he gave me all the stuff to, and i have like 15 books and 3 different d&d sets.

If you want to play the game, just repeat this to your mom
"fuck yo couch *word deleted* I will mother fuckin rape you. So back the fuck off my shell-tops and give me back my chedda.".
And then flash the west side gang sign.
Or you could just remove her filthy little fingers and stomp them into the floor.

If she still withholds it from you, then tell her
“You can't win, mom. If you strike me down, I shall become more black than you could possibly imagine.
